Texas A&M University can now access millions in federal funding, crediting the accomplishment to its rising enrollment of Latino students.
About three months after the school was designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution by the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), the U.S. Department of Education did the same this month.
A school is designated as an HSI when at least 25% of its undergraduate, full-time students are Hispanic. At least 25% of Texas A&M’s undergraduates were Latino in the fall 2020 and fall 2021 semesters.
Now that the HACU and DOE recognize A&M as a Hispanic serving institution, its time for the rant as well. We're a bastion of diversity and excellence never before seen in the South Eastern Conference.

This wont go over well here Farmer lol. Not only because of hispanics but because it is good for A&M. I did not realize how large the latino population was at A&M until reading about this the other day. Good read and thanks for sharing.

You have a problem with schools serving all kinds of people or something?
It's based on race, it's racist.

Who gives a frick? I am beyond tired of race-related labels, efforts, and "achievements." True freedom from racism is achieved when we no longer put any emphasis on race at all, which is the polar opposite of the direction in which we as a society are moving now.

Or maybe because it's racist. Could you imagine a school bragging because of it's white students? Why is that racism apparent to people, but not the other way?
For the record, a good portion of my family is hispanic. Most of my 1st cousins on 1 side of my family are mixed due to my aunts marrying hispanics. And then my son-in-law is also hispanic. He's a great guy, works hard, treats my daughter and their son well, I have no complaints.
They are all legal, in favor of border control etc.
Just sick of the racism. I hope by the time my grandson gets to highschool he can just say he's American instead of being pushed into group identification.

Do you think white students are having trouble getting into colleges and being underrepresented at universities?

Preach, brother. The progressive credo is, "Race doesn't matter! Unless you aren't white, in which case race is the most important - indeed, the only - defining characteristic you possess."

There you go making everything about race. All kinds of students have trouble getting into college, regardless of race.
Are you trying to suggest colleges aren't allowing kids in based on race? Because that's pretty ridiculous. Hell, people often times try to claim to be part of a minority just to make it easier to get in.

I disagree, not on your opinion of race and how it is used to divide us by politicians and media and to prosper their agenda, but on the topic of this story and how it is a good thing for A&M.
