Jimbo Fisher just got paid big time by Texas A&M. According to a report from Mark Schlabach of ESPN, Texas A&M approved a 10-year $75 million deal for Fisher, who officially left Florida State for Texas A&M on Friday. Fisher made $5.7 million this year and was the sixth highest paid coach in the country. If the base pay is $7.5 million, that would make Fisher the third highest paid coach in the country, behind Dabo Swinney and Nick Saban. Texas A&M also paid Kevin Sumlin $10.4 million in buyout money. The Aggies are shelling out some serious cash. Sumlin went 7-5 this year, while Fisher and the Seminoles went 5-6. In his time at Florida State, Fisher went 83-23 and won a national championship back in 2013. He is the first coach since Johnny Majors left Pitt for Tennessee back in 1977 to leave a school he won a national championship at for another school.

Florida State owed him $40 million if they fired him. If he leaves, no buyout, just the remainder of the assistants' salaries.

I think this is a great hire. I don't like the whole weird aggie cult, but this is a winning move.

We are in the middle of such a massive bubble this isn’t even funny. How is this clown worth anything close to that amount of money????

He’s not. I think FSU was relieved to get his ridiculous buyout off their books. If the school you’re stealing a coach from is relieved then he might not be a 75 million dollar man. Bert pulled the same trick on Arkansas.

So, A&M traded Sumlin for the Sumlin of the ACC.

Two coaches whose inflated records were buoyed by anomalies at the QB position.

Got it.

I'm highly interested to see what this board looks like when it gets to be this time in 2020 and Jimbo's record is like 23-16 (give or take) or something like that.
