Congrats, OP, you made an aggie who's been registered more than four years to use his first post on your screed.

Well done, my Longhorn compatriot. Well done.

I am also linked to trolling aggies through Texas Monthly. Welcome to the club.

I do not know how Texas A&M ended up with the copyright on an idea that was common in early iron man football.

In early football most teams played an iron man 11 only due to injury or ejection from the game did a 12th player come on the field and sometimes a 13th man.

I have a long list of player participation from 1908 and 11-14 is the common number, and in write ups on a game were a sub came in without an injury or ejection sport writers felt the other team cheated.

Everyone knows Seattle is the Real 12th man but the Redskins and the Colts had it first.

Randolph Duke's internet 15 minutes boils down to this one statement by Texas Monthly in favor of Texas A&M:

"So, no Fraud."

A&M wins, Duke loses, rinse, wash, repeat.

Not copyright, trademark. The difference is significant. And despite what Randolph Duke wants everybody to believe, the only thing that matters here is who owns the trademark. That would be Texas A&M.

I almost wish Texas football wasn't such a joke so we wouldn't deal with idiots like these.

No, it doesn't really matter who owns the trademark because owning the trademark to "12th Man" obviously doesn't help you field a good college football team.

Oh, he's been at it a long time. It seems to be his life's mission. I'm guessing he's not somebody you'd want to drink beer with.

Oh look, you're posting about Texas A&M, a school that just won a share of a regular season basketball championship, something your shitty program hasn't done since 1995.

You aren't wanted here. You aren't funny, and you are so pathetic it is hard to hate you.

At this point, the only opinion on the ramifications of the TAMU senior administrators knowingly filing a fraudulent trademark application for the phrase and then defending it with fraudulent federal court pleadings is that of the Texas Attorney General.

And yet it is continuously upheld by the courts. The NFL defends their own trademarks, yet want to impinge on other trademarks? I mean......A&M DID trademark it. What is there to understand?

[b]By the time the Aggies trademarked the “12th Man”—a reference to the team’s passionate fans—the term was already generic. - See more at: LINK ]

I am pretty sure the term does not refer to their "passionate fans". The article you use to illustrate your point is wrong on its history.

I've never seen a person on the Internet that seems to take themselves as seriously as he does. Why does he care so much about any of this? Why waste so much time and effort on this crusade? I don't get it. It can't be good for anyone to have such an unhealthy obsession with a rival program. Even Harvey Updyke spent less time obsessing over Auburn. I mean I don't care that much. At a minimum it's entertaining. It's funny to see us own so much real estate.

Exactly, this isn't even a real article, it's just a blog post by a fellow shag poster. Hell Paul Begala wouldn't even touch this. Poooooooooor Satterfield. Speaking of which, Randal, since you're so damn sure of yourself why do you continue to hide behind a pseudonym? What a pathetic coward.
