Youre talking like College Station is some kind of dream destination and not a fricking cow field in shite rural east Texas.

This coming from a fanbase in a ghetto shithole like BR.

Texas is the bigger name and brings in more money though.

Adding Texas will bring in a total of $0 extra revenue for the SEC network. In fact, the rest of the conference would lose money on it.

This is because the pricing plans for the SEC network is based on the state, and since A&M is already in Texas, it's already at the higher price. And Texas would most likely lose money in the process, although I'm honestly not sure where the network stands right now, seemed like a failure for ESPN overall in terms of what they were paying.

Oklahoma would bring in more.

Lower tier revenue sources are handled by the schools.

More money from playoffs? Nope, each conference gets the same amount. Even if you take away the Big12, all the other conferences would gain as well.

For long term contract deals it could make a difference. However, the SEC just recently agreed to a 3 billion deal less than a year ago. So it seems mostly unlikely that the SEC itself would be interested.

But if ESPN wanted to see this happen, they could easily offer more money to the conference on that contract. So even though it was recently signed, it's something that can increase if the right people want it. It seems like it would have to be quite a bit more to really make it worthwhile.

So basically, I think the only way it happens is if ESPN is behind the scenes promoting it and is willing to pay for it.

There’s definitely some big money behind this request. Texas and OU aren’t randomly reaching out to the SEC without backing.

My guess is we’re seeing the first steps in super conferences, and the 12 team playoff.

I don’t see the problem. I totally understand A&M being against it. I would be too if I was in their position.

A&M has the votes to block any such move, from everything it appears. I guess we will see if that is true if the two programs actually do want in. Numerous teams will be opposed to such a move. Also, good luck to OU trying to get away from OkSU who owns the legislative group in OK.

And Texas has to worry about all the little children they got in the divorce. Baylor, Tech, etc will not allow that to happen without a nasty, nasty fight.

If you think Texas A&M University ever follows what others do, you haven’t been paying attention.

A&M will never vote "yes". Doesn't matter what Alabama wants in that case. And like I said, it will never get to a vote. Texas doesn't have the votes in the state legislature to leave the conference. Only reason that A&M was "allowed" to do so was because Texas would stay behind. OU/Texas leaving would effectively neuter the BDF.

That doesn't even begin to deal with the Oklahoma state politics

I don’t think you understand austin is a plenty big city with a campus removed from said affected areas (which have made vast improvement, but don’t let me living here change your desperate narrative). But college station is literally a tiny shithole with its best restaurant being “Dixie chicken” so I wouldn’t expect you to know what you’re talking about here.

I’m genuinely curious as to who would sincerely vote, around the nation objectively, that college station is a better place in austin
