I'm picking Aggie to take 2 out of 3, and yes, y'all will be sure to let us know about it. You guys have blue steel right now and we have some adjustments to make on the mound.
Texas still fares well in the post-season.

I'm glad Buster is not a photoshop or MS Paint guy.
Otherwise I see he could have fun with the above.

Things seem to be sorting themselves out for us at the plate (particularly if Sorrell can go back to playing outfield), but we're still trying to get our pitching in sync

Texas entered during the Aggie fight song and the Texas band played right over them.
LSU would be proud. Fla fans would get their jorts in a bunch.
It's sort of an inside joke with LSU.

100% true and there is a decent chance that we'll meet again in a Super Regional.. you could make the argument that losing this series helps win that series.. and vice versa..
This series is fun.. but that series (if played) will matter a whole lot more..

Speaking from the school who has Fisher’s teeth still sunk in them.
All in all, it will be a fun series that I can’t wait to watch. I think the favor is about even depending on how the stadium ends up being but Aggies bats are scorching at the right time and Texas is going to be working out some kinks moving forward and as much as I’d love to win this series, Schloss and Max have an uphill battle to figure out this 3 game series rotation moving forward into the postseason.
Hoping Ace Whitehead can make a few appearances and add another strong arm (barring major regression) to the bullpen rotation before postseason play.
Good luck to both teams and hopefully we can both come out of this series injury free.
Safe travels to everyone coming into Austin as well!

I agree with this.

I was just checking to see if you scrolled the pinned baseball threads.
Typically, I think BigBro prefers these pinned threads to stay MtVernon and Buster free, which I can sympathize with.
So get outta here Buster.

quote:If A&M loses the series, we probably won't be able to pull off the miracle and end up hosting. In that case, there seems to be a high probability that we'd end up at TCU, who will be one of the lower seeded hosts, and that Texas will be #1 or close to it. So, yes, we could easily see a super matchup in that scenario.

If A&M were to win the series, then I think we have a decent chance of playing ourselves into a host spot, and I think the odds go down that the seedings line up for a super regional rematch (but, of course, the NCAA isn't above manipulating seedings to create interesting matcups).

Are there any comparisons of a coach being successful and leaving for a rival? I can't think of any.

You did have an opening…y’all had been planning on firing Pierce for quite a while before you finally did. Schlossnagle flat out lied when he jumped the reporter’s arse during the CWS finals when asked about the Texas job. He later had to apologize. Schloss said he had not been in contact with Conte…nor talked to anyone about the Texas coaching position. So you really think long time friends Conte and Schlossnagle weren’t talking about it? Schloss just miraculously took the Texas job in just 24 hours of discussion?

Sadly that was not the case.... certain fans were absolutely ready to move on and I was one of them. When he pulled Ivan Melendez to stick in a pinch runner only to sac bunt the runner to 2nd base in the 8th inning vs MSU I knew he was completely incapable of winning it all.
You don't take the best hitter in the NCAA out of an elimination winner advances to the CWS finals tie ballgame. If you do then you and you pinch run for him you damn sure steal 2nd base instead of donating a free out which you could have easily bunted Ivan over.
2022 he got dog walked by Schloss in Omaha and that was embarrassing enough but Schloss had already moved on. 2023 the cracks were definitely showing but we still took Stanford to the brink in their super regional losing by 1 in the bottom of the 9th and so there was a 0% chance CDC was going to fire Pierce then.
It wasn't until 2024 when the bomb finally went off especially getting housed by UTRGV 17-9 at DFF that CDC knew Pierce was over his skis and wouldn't cut the mustard in the SEC. Mix in a 2nd straight 2nQ Big 12 tournament showing and coming in 3rd place at the College Station regional and yes he was dead to rights then but not until then

I hope A&M skull fricks Texas this weekend and sweeps them.
