re: Texas A&M - I don't get this recruiting class

A&M fans knew this was going to be a great class because it is heavily Houston focused, but NIL put it over the top. A&M's NIL program teaches the kids how to market themselves, and more importantly how to connect with Aggie Network ... The presentation is said to be exceptional
Add Kyle Field atmosphere to that, and the fact we had The Who's Who of CFB recruits at the Bama game. And the A&M support staff for recruiting is second to none. And an additional 100M in facilities improvements are coming to the football program alone. The fact that Fisher is going to be here for a long time so the stability is there as well ...
And finally, recruit Bobby Taylor. His parents own the Turkey Leg Hut, and he relentlessly pursued the best recruits that came in from out of town. He would come up many weekends to show them around, and the recruits would all stay in CS overnight even on unofficial visits.
We will see how much of it is NIL-focused next year when most of the recruits are based out of DFW, and from out of state as well. As someone else said, a perfect storm.

Honest question
1. NIL is old fashioned free enterprise at work. Cat is out of bag.
2 Good year for 5 stars in Texas.
3. SEC added two big boys from Texas. Anamoly was actually that
Other schools were being successful in pulling guys out of Texas that either of these two schools wanted. We are now back to the norm.
4. The Aggie network is awesome for getting a job in Texas.

These guys don't give 2 fricks about the Aggie network.

Not that it isn't a wonderful thing for students, I reckon it had NO bearing in any of the final decisions of the best players in the class. Money is what put them over. These guys are looking at the NFL, not the Aggie network.

The Aggie Network is what allows them to make so much off of NIL

A&M has had 3 top 10 classes in a row under Fisher- this is nothing off the radar.
After going 9-1 last year, and beating Bama this year with a backup QB and a 3-2 team, recruits understand where this program is going.
We have some big time excitement going on in the Houston area, and the recruits are all recruiting each other, and others out of state. I'm sure there's big NIL money, but that's true with most big programs. Difference is we don't need to raid charities to raise it.
You call JF an average coach, which shows you don't really get it, but I thought I'd help you out a little.
p.s. I think we're basically where Clemson was 6 or so years ago. They werent a traditional power, but the thing started to grow organically and then took off. Same deal.

I can not tell you how many times, over the last twenty years, that I've heard numerous Kentucky Basketball coaches, commentators, and the like discuss "being on scholarship for life" when a kid commits to UK.
I think A&M just bit the bullet, since it's legal now, and turned everything up to 11. Good for them - I'll be interested to see how they manage it going forward.

Then it's pure money, not the network itself. How is the a&m grad CEO supposed to make NIL money off an A&M player if his company is based in Colorado? NIL is about selling themselves and their brand. What good does the brand of an A&M freshman football player do for the typical company outside of local food/entertainment/auto dealerships?
These kids want money and the NFL, which is more money. Thats it.
Maybe the Houston market is what A&M is promising to their recruits as an NIL opportunity.

Well your AD thinks otherwise. Hired him at A&M and threw a ton of money to try and get him to LSU.

It’s real simple....it’s just A&Ms turn this year. Georgia and Alabama can be right back at the top again as the pendulum swings. I do not believe anyone here disagrees with the SEC being the best conference. Saying that look at the upheaval the past 2 seasons for this years recruiting cycle. LSU, Florida, Arkansas, Auburn, and to some degree the Mississippi schools have had some uncertainties. Just a couple school have had stability. Last year A&M was on the cusp of the playoffs and in the media spotlight. Telling a recruit that they could be “the guy” to go over the top is huge to an 18 year old mind. Throw in a little NIL along with being part of a “cool” group and there you have it.
A&M has a huge presence in Texas contrary to what a few UT fans say. There really isn’t a middle of the road view....you either like A&M or you like Texas. For those who only know A&M from a Saturday afternoon game or some message board fodder you truly have no idea. In terms of resources they are elite.

Aggot fans trying to explain away all their horseshite reasons for all these 5* kids committing to their school the same way Ole Miss fans did when none of it made sense.
Nobody believed Ole Miss fans bullsh*t at the time either when they suddenly closed a monster class out of nowhere and for no reason. Stop trying to blow smoke up people's asses, aggots. You're buying players. Period.
