A 17-18 year old, 5 star kid, is not in any way concerned about some type of "Aggie Network" or future job opportunities should they not make the NFL...A&M has a lot of money, these recruits like that, and it's okay to say that, it's apart of the game now...But don't pretend that that's not what it's about.

The only difference now is the visibility of payments and different programs expressing willingness to make them without the need for NCAA most-favored status.
It’s been a bidding war for a long time, that absolutely hasn’t changed.
aTm has had little-brother syndrome for decades, and now they’ve figured out they can put their willing oil-boosters to good use without fear of Texas calling the helicopters. It’s not surprising.

People on this board keep talking about how irrelevant a #1 class is but at the same time are posting the most insecure beta male shite.

This. There's no way in hell an underachieving Fisher and A&M put this class together without the NIL. They figured it
out and are exploiting it while they can. College Station is middle of the pack to bottom third in terms of SEC cities. Certainly middle of the pack as a program. Anyone with a functioning brain knows that this is unprecedented for most programs let alone A&M and it stinks like a bag of dog shite.
$$$$$$
Location matters more than pretty trees. A lot of SEC folks look at pictures and see flat land and small trees with a few ugly buildings and think that's all there is but the reality is the A&M campus is MASSIVE. A&M is the closest P5 school to the Houston Metro and is also close to DFW, 2 cities with MASSIVE talent. Houston alone had more talent than the State of Louisiana.
Also CS has 300k people in the metro and is a pure college town. The town revolves around the school but you have everything there you could want and it's just an hour down the road to Houston if there is something else you want. It's also a very safe and clean city and has a lot of unique charm.
When it comes to cities though it is less about which one is the "best" and more about the lack of negatives. CS has very few negatives from an objective standpoint. If it were all about the coolest city then Vanderbilt would kill it in recruiting. It's not like Tuscaloosa is some amazing town for any other reason than they have a winning football team. Athens is great and likely has the best overall city but its not vastly superior to everyone else.

The city where a school is located has very little impact (if any) on recruiting or coaching searches.

Acting like that wasn't the equivalent of winning 10 games is just moronic or self delusional.
Sure, because if A&M added a couple of Non Conference games against Prairie View and New Mexico there is no way they could have won either of them to get to 10 wins.

Yes

Was the reason based on the reputations of the school and nothing else? So now money really means something right?
The reputations of those schools to put guys into the NFL obviously played a factor along with whatever under the table financial compensation. Now with NIL A&M can go full bore without consequences. Props to them, but nothing else about them stands out. Not tradition, not location, not facilities, not championships, nothing.
Just accept your money is more than other schools this recruiting cycle.
This is in combo with Texas being terrible and OU/LSU having major coaching changes late in the game. Then you add in the new NIL and transfer portal rules and its a perfect storm for A&M to be successful.
Embrace what you are and stop acting like there's any intrinsic reason any of these guys are going to A&M. Maybe for a few, but the better players are there for $$$.
The DL from Tennessee and DB you guys took from Georgia are pretty obvious.

Wishful thinking. Nothing more.

Because you are an Aggie and the recruiting class sits in their craw. How is it possible to sign that recruiting class as anything but superb? And it will show and likely in the next season. They all know that's a possibility. They'd be very excited if the shoe was on their foot.

How UNRIGHTEOUSNESS it is that all of the 5 STARS want to play in COLLEGE STATION.
simply APPREHENSIBLE behavior .

Truth - except I think it’ll take a couple of years to see meaningful improvement.

Who cares. Getting the top rated class every year isn't an Alabama fan's birth-right. Yeah - A&M paid for some players, which is legal. Good luck with it. I got no hard feelings about it as a Kentucky fan.
20 recruits a year - at $10K each for a signing bonus - is $200,000 a year. Kentucky pays Stoops six million now ... so it's not like they can't afford it.
Hell - just putting the kids on a $500/month stipend would amount to around a half million dollars a year. Chump change in the modern college football world. Boosters should probably get on that.

Next year will be better than last year by two to three games.
The Aggies placed 5 on the All SEC Freshman team. Expect that to happen again. That's a lot of talent and it will show.
