It's one of those things that technically true, like when y'all bragged about finishing as the 4th best team in 2020.

Texas fans must really, really hate Bob Stoop
Of course they do. If it weren’t for the red river shootout no one could call him big game bob with a straight face

That was definitely an elite stretch, I remember growing up and watching those teams with Muschamp at defensive coordinator. Nick Saban really did break Texas among other programs

Indirectly, yes he did. He broke Mack's brain. After that game Mack up and decided we were gonna become a power running offense, as if that's just a switch you can flip overnight. He didn't know how to do it and it was staggering how quickly it fell apart. Marcell Goddamn Dareus.

Such a weird time, y’all had talented rosters (compared to the big 12 teams like mine), but the coaching could not figure it out for Texas.
Seems like Sark got the locker room back.

No, Saban directly broke Texas. Bama beats the total dogshit out of Texas, Texas crumbles into dust.
When an opponent devastates you, embarrasses you, makes you question everything about yourself and become weak and ineffectual overnight, he has directly affected you in a negative way that has many and varied consequences.

They lost all confidence as a team. It's like when a bully gets his arse beaten in front of the whole school after years of convincing himself that he was invincible.
It takes a very long time for that bully to ever gain his self-worth back, if ever.

Nah, we were still in it up until about midway through the 4th. I'm right.

IMO, the arse kickings BYU handed them in 2013 and 2014 when they ran for >800 yards in the two games really set them back. Texas got physically manhandled in those games.

OP’s contention was that TX was not elite during that period, not that MU was.
However both teams had similar overall records over that stretch, but Mizzou achieved theirs in the SEC. Now if you want to dick ride the Big 12 for some reason, have at it. Makes you strange AF tho!

You were probably some liberal arts or lame arse business student at Texas, if you even went here. You guys really made this board suck more since yall started flocking here. And this is coming from a Texas Ex.

Oh I got that... but don't if your team isn't elite, then how do you know what elite really is.

Who said we were? It's no secret we've been wandering in the wilderness with a decade of bad coaching hires. We can't all have Uber wonderboy Drinkwhizz running the show.
The supreme Court did us a solid though, no more wandering.
