Also, what is the difference between being interested in what is happening with Arik Gilbert and his status and wondering what is happening with Darnell Washington and his status?

Should fans just stfu and pray instead of asking what is wrong with his foot and how long he might be out of action?

Starting to wonder if severe mental health issues are at play here. Which is very sad and hopefully he can recover.

Gilbert's issues are clearly mental, and mental health still has a huge stigma attached to it. No one is going to make a negative character judgment about a player breaking his foot in practice. Plenty of people are going to make a negative character judgment about a bi-polar or schizophrenic teenager who has an episode though. So if that's what happened I can understand the desire to keep it on a need to know basis.

I agree with you, but that's really not what fans are asking for. 99% of fans inquiring about his status aren't asking for the results of his Rorschach test or his clinical diagnosis.

They are inquiring if they can expect the guy to return to play football.

Man they just won't let this go. I'm surprised they didn't obsess over Devonta Smith like they did Landon Collins or Moses.

That's completely reasonable. I think the issue is that some fans feel entitled to know everything that's going on with players. We had people on Tiger Rant saying that the fanbase deserved to know how Myles Brennan broke his arm. I find that to be ridiculous.

I get that, but if it really is a mental thing then you're probably not going to get a clear answer anytime soon.

I do know that based on Alabama's experience with similar situations I would operate under the assumption that it's not going to happen and then allow myself to be pleasantly surprised if it does.

That was my main point and why I was telling them to move on. If does come back and compete in college, there is a 95% chance he turns out like Manziel.

Is it?

It’s completely out of the realm of possibility that he’s just a coddled athlete?

I’m legit asking.

He has paranoia and schizophrenia.

He needs to get his issues worked out and his family didn’t do a good enough job at addressing them when he was still in high school.

His problems affect everyone around him. He should not be in a football locker room at all for his own good and the sake of those around him.

Incredible athlete but his mind is shattered. It’s a tragedy.

ETA: that isn’t a shot at his family. They didn’t understand the extent of his problems until he left home.

Google 5* Antonio Alfano. It's scary similar.

I'm not going search, but I wonder... did you and others have that opinion when he quit at LSU? I doubt it. Nope, we he quit LSU I'm pretty sure the SECR proclaimed it was LSU and CEO's that was the problem.

That's exactly right.

Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice.........

I hope he gets his meds right so he can at least be a productive member of society. Other than that, no way a pro team takes a chance of guaranteeing this kid any amount of money when it's not guaranteed he will be with the team a whole season. He's yet to prove that he can do that.

It isn’t that. Being at home helped with his problems but if you see my above post he has major mental health issues.

He's a highly emotional boy. I do hope he gets some help but all his problems are in his head. They may not be real to us but they are real to him. I hope he doesn't turn to drugs for relief from that. That's all I can say about that kid.

I don't doubt that he has something going on mentally, but is it actually schizophrenia? I question if it's that because from what I know about schizophrenia, you would not be able to get him to step foot on a practice field.

Whatever the case, I hope UGA can keep him with the program but not with the team and try again next year.

Many of us on Tiger Rant have been saying this since the drama started at LSU! No one on SEC Rant, and some on LSU Rant have believed us until now.

Some of us knew and warned you about it, but were ridiculed. He should have been getting help from the Georgia staff from the moment he stepped on campus.

There are several different types of schizophrenia with different levels of functionality. two of my old friends developed it in high school. One was much more obvious than the other. Evander was unfortunately shot when he was psychotic and pulled a gun on someone. It was a sad ending to a rough life.
