Terrence Edwards, one of the best wide receivers in the history of the Georgia Bulldogs, has a request for fans regarding Arik Gilbert.
Last week, it was revealed that Gilbert, a transfer from LSU and former 5-star recruit who came to Georgia this summer, was away from the team. Georgia coach Kirby Smart confirmed Gilbert was away from the team last week due to “personal reasons.”
Because of Gilbert’s stature and potential, the revelation started a firestorm of speculation and rumor. Edwards, who helps train and mentor Gilbert, was bothered by said speculation.

quote:

“My biggest issue is that a lot of people in the DawgNation feel entitled to know what’s going on with the young man,” Edwards said, speaking to Brandon Adams of DawgNation. “The young man is dealing with a situation, and it’s none of anyone’s business with what’s going on.

quote:

“Coach Smart told everyone that it is a ‘personal issue’ … the man needs your prayers and your positivity. He doesn’t need all the speculation and rumors — that are just not true about the young man.
“I have had to bite my tongue a few times this week on social media just because of a very few select fans. All I ask from everyone is just to pray for the young man. Whenever he’s back, let’s cheer him on then. But all this other stuff … he has a mother, a brother and a grandmother. How do you think they feel reading all of this … knowing their child is in need of prayer and positivity?

I am going to re-word that.

I don't think the average fan is going to continue to put up with professional athletes dictating when they want to play or not play. Obviously people can do what they want, but I am not interested in someone playing a team sport that cannot be counted on to show up.

They wanted to get paid, they can act like professionals. That goes for UF players as well. Not picking on Arik because he is a Bulldog.

I’m going to hold out judgement until we find out what’s really going on here and why he left.

If it’s cause he cussed at a coach and flipped out - then I don’t want him
If it’s cause he’s having a case of the twisties - frick him
But if it’s something to do with a family member or some serious illness - then I can understand how a 19 year old kid could need some time

It’s clear he has real psychiatric issues, I hope things work out for him for his wellbeing.

I must've missed the rule that stated posters could only post about players from "their team."

Change your tampon and get back to work.

Then, why bring it up? This sounds like hey, pay me $1,000 under the table and I will tell you what is the issue

I don't believe I've ever "shite" on Arik Gilbert.

You seem confused.

I'm not going search, but I wonder... did you and others have that opinion when he quit at LSU? I doubt it. Nope, we he quit LSU I'm pretty sure the SECR proclaimed it was LSU and CEO's that was the problem.

A lot of these people pay a more than insignificant amount of money to support the team and team operations.

So yeah, they are interested in what's going on with the team.

When season ticket rights require only 'prayers and positivity' in lieu of a massive Hartman Fund donation, then this will be a reasonable request.

Until then fans have every right to inquire into what's going on.

Nah I didn't really care. Players transfer all the time for all kinds of reasons. I didn't hate Jalen when he transferred. LSU will find tons of more 5*s it is really time to move on.

It's obviously a psychological issue. He may not even be fit to play sports. All sports are 80% "between the ears".

Hes a football player.

He plays at Georgia and Georgia is in the SEC.

This is the SECrant.

Are you more of a visual learner? Do I need to draw a venn diagram to show you where those topics intersect and how its a completely relevent topic for this board?
