I guess I can see Tennessee's side of it. As sick as it may be, maybe he's using all of this as a way to get in to an fbs school in Michigan because he doesn't like Tennessee?
Still, why not just let him go to wherever he chooses if he doesn't like it at UT?

Tennessee believes he is just transferring because Baggett was fired and he doesn't get along with Da'Rick. His dad was already sick when he signed in Feb.
Even if TRUE...the PR hit is bad and it does not set a precedent. How many kids will sign with UT that have a dad with a verifiable serious condition and will be unhappy and use this as a way out?
It is dumb. It is not as if some OTHER player can now go to Dooley and say "My dad has the flu. I want to transfer to a closer school"
It is a stupid stance to take.

This has nothing to do with Da'Rick except that Arnett and Da'Rick hate each other. Da'Rick is not close to being kicked off the team.

Yep, rumors first came out within a day of Bagget leaving.
Arnett can say whatever the hell he wants bc he knows Dooley probably is not going to say crap about in public.

My guess is Dooley will cave here. This is not close to being worth the shirstorm that will ensue here.

What a pussy move by Dooley. A sure sign he's a weakling just looking to exert some sense of control of a program that he's already lost.
He should take note of Miles, who released Phelon Jones to Bama. Dooley isn't fit to cup Les' balls.

Is Michigan or Michigan State on Tennessee's schedule?

If the guy is just wanting to be close to his dad, I can understand and that would make sense.
If he's doing all of this just because he doesn't like DaRick etc then he's a huge douche.

My guess as well. If this kid is sincere and really just wants to be close to home, let him. If he's just using this as a crutch to go to MSU or Michigan, let him. Not worth the hassle and bad pub.

Dooley has done this with every high profile transfer. Bryce Brown, Aaron Douglas, and now DeAnthony. He has created different stipulations each time.

Dooley has been pretty clear about his policy regarding releases in the past.
My assumption would be that after multiple conversations (this has been a rumor now for a while since Bagget left), Dooley felt this was less about the health of his father and more about wanting to leave bc he is not happy.

I could see it if the kid was wanting to transfer to another SEC school and even that's touchy depending on the situation.
It's Michigan and Michigan State. You might pull one kid per class (and that's pushing it) from the state of Michigan when recruiting against those guys.
And it's not like Dooley has a lot of room to play with given his abortion of a season either. You're just giving rival coaches a TON of ammo against you.

I think Dooley is a good guy.. However, I also THOUGHT Joe Paterno and Penn State was a classy program. Who really knows what's going on with our teams.

It's not worth the negative attention it has already caused. Didn't we do the same thing with Bryce Brown? It's not like he's trying to go to a SEC school, and if he's not happy you sure don't want him on the team.

I 100% agree with this.

UT doesn't have a leg to stand on after this kind of bullshite move.

pretty dick move by dooley

I don't get why you would want him on your team if he doesn't want to be there. All it's gonna do is create problems.

Dooley is an asshat.
we all knew this.
