I've been watching this all afternoon with a mix of astonishment and horror. The power of social media to create a lynch mob mentality is truly scary. Any involvement of Schiano to the Sandusky crimes is murky at best, yet people are so eager to feel self-righteous and enjoy the thrill of being indignant about something that they instantly conclude that he was right in the middle of it. I saw a picture (on ESPN.com) of a big rock on the UT campus with the words "Schiano covered up child rape at Penn State" painted on it. That kind of self-righteous certainty is as frightening as it is offensive.
Greg Schiano would have been a great hire for UT. I saw what he did to raise the Rutgers program from the dead, and I believe he would have been successful at UT. Now, I doubt any decent coach would be willing to work in such an environment. But Tennessee fans deserve that after this afternoon's embarrassing display. The real tragedy of this is that Greg Schiano, who might well be perfectly innocent of any involvement in the Sandusky scandal, will be forever tainted by the actions of this electronic lynch mob, and may never again get the opportunity to be a head coach.

Schiano is a giant piece if shite and I wouldn’t want him as my coach (Sandusky stuff not even factored in).

It's what three seperate individuals independently accused him of. Going to your superior and then dropping it doesn't earn you points when the issue is the rape of children.

I don't think it would've been a great hire but certainly solid. They could do a lot worse.

Not to mention the fact that Ohio State vetted him and have had zero problems with him in two season. Did you see their fans throwing a bunch of temper tantrums?

No, but they're obviously not as pure and righteous as Tennessee fans.

I wonder if clay Travis could now have legal exposure for a defamation suit

Sad but true and it should concern everyone, that it is true that you can lose everything on allegations.

Personal contacts.. anyone who has connections to B10 coaches or NFL coaches over the last 30 years could likely share the same.
For all the people who black balled associated parties, it’s amazing who and how many didn’t. Billion dollar biz.. damn near as bad as political scandals.
TN needs to walk away and tell Schiano to frick off, he isn’t doing shite about this.

I didn't know who Clay Travis is, so I looked him up on Wikipedia, where I read this lovely tidbit:
"According to Politico, Travis's increasingly controversial political statements have made him a 'darling of the alt-right'."
Explains a lot..... I hope he gets his arse sued over this.

Or that Karma can be a belated bitch.
What you are saying is true, but not in this case.. justice is being served here & hopefully tOSU does the right thing and terms him.

Not really trying to defend Schiano, just saw that comment and felt the need to mention that it's a scary trend in modern society.

It was second hand hearsay and never independently corroborated but go ahead and convict him. Hope you are never accused of anything.

Yeah, I noted that you are correct overall.. the masses likely don’t deserve credit but in this case it’s working out.

Does it hurt to be this stupid? A quick search would show that the sworn statements were released after he was hired and vetted by OSU.

Yup.
Schiano has lost a lot of close friends in the coaching community.
Close friends I repeat.

And something none of you silly whackos knew about until after you blew your tampons into the Tennessee River over his hiring.
