Huepel is in his 3rd year. Let’s look at a few 1st SEC coaches that was in their 3rd year.

Coach 1:
1st season - 8-4, win Peach Bowl; final rank #22

2nd season- 10-3, win Sugar Bowl; final rank #7

3 season- 8-5, lose Cotton Bowl. Lost to Virginia Tech, Auburn, & Alabama by a combined score 88-15, and lose 4 of his last 6 games. Final rank, Not Ranked!!

2-1 in bowl games

Coach 2:
1st season- 4-0; finished #12 AP poll

2nd season- 9-2-1; finished #12 AP Poll

3rd season- 8-4- ; finished #22 AP Poll, started season #13 in AP, and started season 1-4.

2-1 in bowl games.

Heupel:
1st season- 7-6; music city bowl, L

2nd season- 11-2 Orange Bowl, W final ranking #6

3rd season- 7-4 with 2 games left. Currently ranked #21

Not saying Heupel is going to turn out like the other two coaches, but all 3 are very similar in how they started off their first 3 years. The other 2 coaches are College Football hall of fame coaches, so it’s more likely that Heupel will not have the success long time as they did. But this just goes to show that year 3 isn’t an indicator of one’s success.

Coaches 1 and 2 ended up winning national championships less the 4 years after afterwards. And averaged 11 wins the next 4 seasons after year 3. Let’s just wait and see before we say Heupel is a failure. Good thing those other 2 coaches wasn’t fired after year 3, or neither of those schools would have the natty shortly after.

Again, whole lotta text for nothing. Dan Mullen had Miss state ranked 1 at one point. Heupal is the same as Mullen.

Congrats on being as relevant as Moo state

The University of Tennessee was Blount College until 1879. The University of Texas became a legal entity in 1838.

History, learn it.
