Let's be honest here, his job is to win. No one in the history of the SEC has ever been given a contract extension for being a good role model.
Another interesting side note. There are clearly charges against Kiffen levied in the notice of allegations, and there is precedence pertaining to the NCAA punishing a coach for infractions committed at a previous school.

After reading over all that was released today, Hubbs' report, and news stories nationally I would be very surprised if much, if anything is done to the football program. David Blackburn being reassigned to compliance early in Kiffin's tenure was highlighted by the NCAA. Blackburn told Kiffin specifically to stop making calls and not to make off-campus trips outside the rules and Kiffin did it anyway.

It is, but if we keep Pearl despite a year suspension, scholarship losses, and a postseason ban, then we're essentially saying we have absolutely no confidence in our basketball program. If the past 5 years is the absolute best Tennessee can do and that can only be accomplished by paying elite money to a proven liar/cheater while getting hit with heavy NCAA sanctions, I'd rather just give up the program.

I hope Pearl gets nailed but don't want Dooley to get hosed in this deal.

Based on the penalties I think UT is going to get, I don't think having Kiffin for a year is going to do much more damage to Tennessee at all.
