Tennessee AD Dave Hart, LSU AD Joe Alleva issue statements on new schedule

Hart
Alleva
Both statements speak volumes imo.
quote:
"The announcement from our conference office regarding future football scheduling assures that the Tennessee-Alabama game, one of college football's most historic rivalries, will continue on an annual basis moving forward. Chancellor Cheek and I have strongly and consistently advocated that this rivalry be preserved regardless of any other outcomes resulting from conversations about football scheduling."
Alleva
quote:
"Very disappointed leaders of the SEC disregard competitive advantage that permanent partners award to certain schools. It is definitely an advantage that should not exist in such a great league. We share all the revenue and expenses yet we cannot have a balanced, fair, equitable schedule. LSU has played Florida and Georgia 19 times since 2000 and Bama has played them 8 times. Is that fair ?"
Both statements speak volumes imo.

UT is trying to stay relevant by jumping on Bama's back. It's a sad thing to see.

I would think Tennessee would want to stop getting their butts kicked every year

Bama must've been trying to stay relevant on UT's back when we had the streak not so long ago.

It's never a good thing when an athletic conference acts in the interest of only a few.
Colorado, Nebraska, Mizzou, and Texas A&M could speak endlessly on the subject.
Here's hoping logic & common sense come out ahead.

If Tennessee was not a dormat, this wouldn't be an issue.
It does speak volumes. It speaks to the fact that everyone knows, especially the people who do this for a living, that Tennessee is not going to be a power again.
So, Alabama plays the West, patsies from the East, and an out of conference schedule that maybe includes a Virginia Tech or NC State type on down years.
Whatever. It is what it is.

LSU can't beat Bama on their own. We get it.

Treating all 14 members the same isn't realistic. Tennessee, Bama, UGA and AU's wants and desires are far more important to the league than the Arkansas, Mizzous, S. Carolinas, Miss. Sts, LSUs, etc.

We've been a lot more successful recently than their "rival."

I'm not so sure all would agree with your premise.

Phat Phil went 9-1 against Bama from 1995-2004. Playing Saban's Bama squad last 6 years has been difficult, but soon Bama will be in full decline mode and UT won't be a dumpster fire any longer.

Yet you still lose to them. You want someone else to knock them out for you. Again: we get it.

Scheduling sure wasn't being criticized when Alabama was playing and ever major foe in the west had a off prior to playing them.
LSU permanent opponents in the east are who? If in the new schedules, because of expansion, all this inequitiy is alleviated, will it be time then to complain about having to play Bama and Texas A&M.
Afterall, LSU and API, are the most butthurt people in the conference. For the past 3 years has Florida been the juggernaut thar you have grown to fear. Woe is me, LSU complaining is something I guess will last till the end of time. Bless their hearts!

It's quite hilarious seeing the AD of a football team which has losing seasons in 5 of the past 6 years crowing about preserving the right to continue to have their teeth kicked in by bama.
The AD of LSU is just pointing out facts about unfairness of the scheduling over the past decade or so. You know, the LSU team that has won more games than any other program over this same period. Just think if LSU could play the bottom-feeders every year.

What do you mean by "few"?
At least 8 would have been in favor of this.
Alabama
Auburn
Georgia
Tennessee
Ole Miss
Mississippi State
Kentucky
Vanderbilt
That is a majority. You don't like democracy?

Did you select these teams on purpose?
Of course Ole Miss wants to continue to play Vanderbilt

And isn't MSU's perm opponent Kentucky?

That's the proper response from a team whose history starts in 2001. I wouldn't expect an LSU fan to understand actual historical significance.
It's no wonder LSU fans are such pussies. Trickle down effect starting with the AD.
