I remember the Vol's brief moment of respectability in the '90s but the relevant question isn't how you did against Bama, but how did you do against Florida? TN and FL are not and will never again be comparable programs. Integration brought the end of TN as a college football power. Jim Crow isn't walking through that door.
One of dumbest posts I've seen on here, ever.

This thread is full of dumbassery.
Tennessee IS a football power that is currently down at the moment. You will see 3 or 4 consecutive top 5-10 recruiting classes to restore talent back to normal, and Tennessee will start kicking arse just as it usually does.
Football is cyclical. Do you believe LSU will stay in the top 25 year in and year out forever? If so, you clearly have a short memory or are just too young to understand.
Too much money, tradition, and influence for UT to stay down. Just as it is too difficult to stay on top all of the time.

Oh, and because so many people on here do not understand why UT wants to keep Bama as a rival... UT wants to keep TSIO because it is a tradition. Has nothing to do with fear, but everything to do with mutual respect and a loveable hatred. UT has owned that arse in the past and will do so again in the future. Right now Bama is at the top of cfb... it will not last forever.
