Tell me why Bama is favored over Clemson

To me, Clemson is obviously the better team. But I've been gambling college football for years and most of the time when I think the point spread is crazy, the bookies are right and I am wrong. Tell me why Bama is favored.

Clemson's dline is going to tear Bama's oline up. If they couldn't handle Auburn's dline they sure as hell won't handle Clemson's

The other factor to consider is we won't know what the smart money gamblers think until just before the game.

The bookies don’t set points on who they think is the better team. They set points to ensure they get as close to 50-50 action on either team. They make guaranteed money on the 10% transaction fees etc.
You’d be amazed how many people bet on Bama because of their name recognition. Most times it works because Bama delivers. Not so sure this time against Clemson.

Truth. I would have made Clemson at least a 3.5 point favorite. Maybe more.
My personal experience from betting on football for 25 years is that, if a line looks too good to be true, it almost always is too good to be true.

I know Vegas wants an even money split. Given Bama's late season issues, I expected Clemson to be favored by a little.
Maybe Vegas thinks injured players returning, offensive scheme adjustments, eliminating costly mental errors vs AU, etc. will correct Bama's recent performance issues.
I sure hope those things happen. They need to.

Clemson isn't a great running team and Kelly is an average passer at best. Bama can shut them down for the most part and if they can run for 200+ yards like they did against Auburn and not abandon it, they can win a close game.

Give Saban a month to prepare a pissed off team and it usually plays out in his favor.
