I do find myself wondering why Frost gets a pass while Taggart does not, even In my own mind.
I don’t.
Frost is a Nebraska Football Hero. He was a National Championship winning QB for them. He gets a 3 year pass regardless because they won’t gut their own hero and everyone knows it. Taggart did not even play at FSU. It’s got nothing to do with race and everything to do with hero-loyalty.
Also, everyone knows Nebraska hasn’t had talent for 10 years. FSU on the other hand is staaaaaaaacked with top 10 classes. Taggart is going bankrupt while running a gold mine while Frost is trying to get rich as a sharecropper.

You could add Kelly and Frost to that list . Taggert is at the better program so he should have a better winning percentage and will likely be fired first .

Eh, Frost thrived at a secondary Florida program too. As did Taggart.
There’s something about those secondary Florida programs that makes zeros seem like heroes. As a Texan, I call it the “UH Factor”. UH is a pretty good school in a very fertile recruiting ground with pretty good money, but they play a bunch of brokeass little sisters, so it’s easy for a coach with ho-hum ability to look like a badass there and use it to get a job they aren’t qualified for (Sumlin, Herman). Same with those Florida programs where, even with the leftovers from FSU, UF, and Miami, they still out-athlete their competition. Taggart, Frost, and Strong all used that to get over-promoted. Strong realized his limitations, knew he’d be good again if he could get back to over-athleting his competition at a secondary Florida school aaaaand sure enough, proving the point, he’s back to winning again.

No way Taggart gets fired before three years.
His contract for $30 million over five years is 85% guaranteed. That means it would cost $21.25 million to fire him in January 2019. To fire him in January 2020 it would cost $17 million still.
This is a FSU that is finally opening a $65 million football facility after saving up for it for a while. There is no way they can afford spending a third or a fourth of that in a buyout.
So Taggart will get three years one way or another.

Not saying I disagree, but Strong has been successful at two programs now in Louisville and USF. Him failing in Austin is more indicative of that program than him as a coach right now. Not saying FSU should hire him, but I think he could do well there and I bet he could have some nasty defenses.

Charlie Strong did a great job at Louisville and even beat a top 5 ranked Florida team in the Sugar Bowl. His resume is solid. He was also the DC at Florida winning national titles and his a strong recruiter in Florida.
Texas HS students probably don't have the same level of life's difficulties that kids in Florida has to deal with not to mention the Politics of Texas muddying the waters...I thing Charlie Strong would be a home round for many schools int he ACC and SEC

Taggart has a history of building programs. Sometimes you have to tear some things down to build them up the way you want to. You gotta give him at least 3 seasons

Helton at USCw is the answer, that is a bad bad team.

I respectfully disagree. Building USF to a respectable team in the AAC is kind of like being the high school dropout in a room of imbeciles. He didn’t do anything at Oregon.

There's something wrong at FSU that is not Taggart. No way a supposed elite coach like Jimbo should have had such a porous team last season. And, no way Jimbo should have left that program in the state it's currently in.
See while Sumlin has his issues he did leave A&M in better shape than Jimbo left FSU. I'm starting to think something is seriously wrong with Jimbo.

I could coach Florida State to score more than 7 pts vs Syracuse. This has to set Taggart apart.

Taggart and Sumlin...2 pretenders along with Charlie Strong who were hired because of skin color who have no business coaching P5 football...Morris,like Dooley, was a panic hire.

Taggart is going to go 1-11
Posted on 9/16/18 at 8:48 pm to Mrtommorrow1987
If FSU does go 1-11 there will be extraordinary pressure to fire Taggart. But the only way that gets done is if Taggart messes up, such as a material compliance violation, and even then, it would have to be very material to sustain a breach of contract to exact a settlement to pay less than he is owed. Lots of misery, but Taggart probably stays for his initial contract term.
I wonder, too, about the challenge of fixing a woeful offensive l8ne. Even with superb recruiting, it could take years because the OL is not a place to start freshmen. How the line got to this stage is inexplicable to me at a place like FSU.

Sumlin wins most, easiest competition
Taggart fired first
Morris remembered longer by the fans

Charlie Strong is one bad joke of a coach...at the P5 level...he will do fine where he is at now.
