If you’re Auburn, why do you load the bases and then pull the infield in with 1 out? Wouldn’t you rather play for the double play at conventional depth?

1. Intentionally walked a hot RHB with a LHB coming up (Vitello put in a RH PH).
2. Create a force at each base and plate.
3. Bring in the defense to improve chances of a double play since anything hit deep would allow the runner on 3rd to score even if caught.
One can always second guess afterwards but the moves were smart. Dude just made a good hit.
