Your roster was limited. Not a lot of mature star power on offense and you were solely relying on pitching to win games.
Staffs figured out that attacking this Schloss lineup early with strikes would win games. No power to be afraid of filling up the zone (insert Aggie joke here).

Texas won more games by 3 runs or fewer than any other regular season champ in memory.
They were also a bad offensive team that got exposed towards the end of the season because the book was out on the lineup.
Max being hurt didn’t help, but I’m not sure he’s changing things wildly for you.
