Race relations in this country are taking a step back...a big reason being the proliferation of social media and how it has enabled anyone and everyone to express their beliefs, views, morals etc. Unfortunately, not everyone's belief system is rational. Yes, this was an anonymous letter...but anyone who thought the information age would come without consequences was sadly mistaken. Unfortunately this is the world in which we live...I can proudly state my children have been raised in a home that is blind to color, blind to any categorization of society. I'm a Mizzou fan...this stuff tore my university apart two years ago and the effects are obviously still being felt. The viewpoints of a few find an audience of many in today's wired world. Sorry for the Sumlin family...it's unfortunate but this type of thing is going to continue to spiral.

The right thing to do is hire Sumlin to an additional 15 yr contract. Racists.

Charlene put the barcode on it her damn self to make it look legit. Somebody crack that barcode. Seriously. That letter is 100% BS
Why the frick would someone go to the trouble of barcoding it, putting a stamp on it, and filling out the return address if they're going to hand deliver it?
This is fishy af

We know that the letter was hand delivered. Why tf would someone barcode the envelope and put a stamp on it if they're going to hand deliver it?
It's clear that this is a fake, and whoever faked it forgot that the PO stamps over the postage stamp

A lot of places have pre coded envelopes. I'm willing to be that one she picked up around campus and had no idea what it meant. Hell it may even be her own stationary.
One way or the other this ain't gonna end well for Mrs. 44-10

There seems to be some type of decoder for Intelligent Mail Barcodes on this site but I'm not sure how to get it to work. I guess install some software? Not sure if it will read info from a JPG

You'll see these on business reply envelopes that themselves haven't been posted, inside junk mail, bills, etc. Like this

The Sumlins obviously have their own stationery. They probably send out enclosed Self Addressed Stamped Envelopes for, say, soliciting for their charities. She used one of those.
That's my suspicion at least

Ah, I thought she might've had a barcoding machine for sending out mail. I've seen offices with something similar

It may be real but everything is odd about the letter, no use of curse words to accompany the racial slur which almost always go together, feminine penmanship, almost childlike in the wordage especially the " or else" after thought.

Just researched it a bit. It's a FIM C barcode applied at the post office when the address is handwritten so the barcode should just be the receiver's address. She should have covered it too. Also apparently it's not unusual for it not to be postmarked. There's probably an orange stamp on back. Still don't like that she made it public. Just stirring up shite no matter what color she is.

Y'all do know that women can be racist too? And that lots of men have decent handwriting? Or that men like this (racists) can just have their wives or gfs write it for them?
Just because it looks like a woman's handwriting doesn't mean much.

This is poor research.
It's actually a FIM A barcode. Very basic, and still needs a stamp, which would DEFINITELY be postmarked
