Would be a downgrade for Sumlin IMO. USC coaching job is a cursed job it seems.
Nah, they are probably about on par as far as programs go. Both have an overinflated sense of self worth and haven't done shite in 10 years to warrant the hype.

Sumlin will go to the NFL eventually imo
Why? I don't see any coach with as much, "I think he goes to the NFL" from other fan bases about any coach in the country as I do with Sumlin. Why? What has he ever said about the NFL? What makes him so primed for the NFL? His gimmick offense? His complete lack of time in the NFL? His enjoyment of college recruiting? If I had to list coaches that seemed like NFL guys he'd be near the bottom. I don't get why people think he's NFL bound. Do y'all think he's an amazing coach and the NFL covets him more so than any other SEC coach? Seriously. What is it?

I mean we can do this all day. But historical success matters to coaches. It's name recognition. It's something to talk about in recruiting. It's banners to show recruits.
I would say it's like third on the list, behind recruiting base, facilities, and brand exposure. Otherwise Miami doesn't have the shitty coaching staff it currently does, or Nebraska makes a better hire last year.
Twenty years ago it was one or two on the priority list. That is the disconnect, that things have changed.

Many haters assume we will always be bad not for logical reasons, but just because we are Aggies.

So it's trolling now to say that coaching a team that has had 7 Heisman winners and 10 national titles is a better job than TAMU
come on bruh

This is a dream come true job for Malzahn.Athletes to run his real offense and weak competition. He's on schedule to jump jobs so this could be a done deal...

7 Kevin Sumlin Texas A&M 51 SEC $5,000,000
21 Steve Sarkisian USC 41 Pac 12 $3,850,000
so he's the highest paid coach west of the rockies..
sure they could pay more, but do these left coast pac schools really want to follow the SEC and Ten lead of paying outrageous amounts to sports figure heads? doubt it.

Well, I was just thinking of..
Pete Carroll-Reggie Bush, NCAA, Sanctions etc etc
Lane Kiffin-LOL
Sarkisian-Gary Pinkel's padawan.

the Miamis and SMUs of the world have been plagued with sanctions. So has USC in all honesty. All of our teams are 1 phone call or 1 tweet away from being sanctioned.

I know TAMU won't be bad. I don't know how successful you'll be either, but you have too much money to be bad IMO.

Keep in mind I'm not saying TAMU will always be a subpar program. I'm simply saying that USC's recent historical success is enough to assume they with the right coach, they could be back to playing in January.
Any program with the right coach can be there. A&M's prestige blows Oregon's out of the water. Baylor and TCU are small private schools that have never won anything and they are number two and three in the country. When Nick Saban left the Dolphins, there are about 40 schools he would have won a national title at. Hell. He turned around an LSU program which at the time was a less successful and cajun version of Ole Miss.
If Sumlin can win a national title at USC, he'll win one at A&M. This isn't the 1960s. Parity is rampant.

Completely disagree. Some schools don't have the schedule or the prestige. Baylor and TCU are still in a P5 conference.

Nike is why Oregon is now a pretty good program

I think he could very well win one at TAMU, but I disagree with this statement. The SCEw is the hardest division in football. If Oregon is on a down year, the Pac 12 is up for grabs.

Please. A&M can match USC...
Nat. Titles:
Ag (3) 1917, 1927, 1939
USC (11)
Heismans: Ag (2) ... USC (7)
College Station vs. Los Angeles
Yep! Lateral move for sure.

7 straight conference titles
The 'horns had a comparable run in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Does that mean that Austin is a head coaching destination comparable to USC ... today?
By the same token, the 'horns have won 25 Conference championships to only 11 for LSU. They have also won 4 National Championships, versus three for LSU. Does this mean that Austin is a preferable job to Baton Rouge?
The desirability of the job is dependent upon many, many factors. Despite the history in Austin, no sane coach would set foot in the pit of vipers that is the Longhorn Moneyed Alumni.

Uh, yeah. Texas is a great job. What are you smoking? You think by putting LSU into it that I would deny that Texas is a top 3 job in the country. Great city, great location, great history. Big money. UT is a great destination.

Texas is the best job in the country. I know yall hate it, but Strong will eventually turn this thing around if they have some patience.
Posted on 10/12/15 at 5:21 pm to cas4t
I think with the current landscape in their AD you could argue it's not. But by the somewhat objective measures like money, facilities, etc it probably is
I dunno on your Strong statement but that's a totally different subject. Someone will eventually turn it around of course

Hell Lane walked into sanctions. He also had UT damn near turned around when he left. 08 is when Cody blocked that chip shot FG. Without that freak play that Bama couldn't replicate in 100 tries, Lane beats a top 5 Bama in his first year. That's some shite.
