Retired head coach Steve Spurrier may not be on the sidelines anymore, but that doesn’t mean he’s done throwing jabs at former rivals. On Wednesday, the Head Ball Coach was a guest speaker at the Independence Bowl Kickoff Luncheon in Shreveport, La. Right on cue, at one point during his speech, he delivered a jab towards LSU, which was fitting, given the state he was speaking in. “You can have a bunch of good ballplayers and not win, also. All you LSU fans know about that, I’m sure,” Spurrier told a laughing crowd. “Just kidding.” LSU did, of course, just fire Les Miles after winning roughly 10 games per season, due to blue-chip recruiting classes that often fell short of Alabama’s on the field.

Les Miles was the one guy who could have prevented Nick Saban from attaining GOAT status, or at least delayed it, but he failed miserably.

Spurrier was a troll long before the internet.

Spurrier could have if he had accomplished anything at all at SC. He could have theoretically blocked Saban from winning conference championships.

If that's true, Saban's greatness was a guarantee.

Right message, wrong messenger. I quit paying attention to Spurrier circa 2010. He got lucky one year at SC, and he wasn't as good of a coach once he had to work a little bit in recruiting instead of taking the pick of the litter at Florida.

LSU was 4-0 against him at South Carolina, and he literally quit (retire, my arse; he quit) after the last loss. Game passed him by.

If Saban had said it, he'd be the right guy to say it considering he routinely kicked Miles' arse since November 2011.

How many 10 win seasons did SC have before Spurrier?

If you dont like him thats fine, but dont try to sell anyone on here that bs that he wasnt a good Coach.

Dont listen to him.

Spurrier took a no nothing football program (with a lot of fan support) to the best era in their history.

Meyer didn't have the balls, so he ran to the big 1 where he knew he had an easy path.

So was Mark Richt and Brian Kelly in 2012 and Dabo in 2015 with those title games, hell maybe Mike Gundy had they defeated Iowa State in 2011. We have to understand since 2013, Alabama's only won one national title not like they've been going Pete Carroll-USC Tom Osborne-1990s Nebraska on us(college football at-large) mid-decade.

Meyer will end up with more wins, more championships, and a better record than Saban.

They are tied head to head, and the B1G 10 East has become a pretty cut throat division with OSU, Mich, Mich St., and Penn State.

Spare me the "Urban was scared" line

People who utter that argument are the same who always raise "Chosen One to the Frozen One in the 2011 Finals" in LeGOAT debates i.e. the illogical Skip Baylesses of the world.
