from 1975-1977 because Larry Gillard, a DT on the football team, received a 15% discount at a Starkville clothing store that was offered to all STUDENTS.
It remains the most egregious thing that the NAZI’s err NC2A has ever done in its pathetic history.
And now we look at today at what is happening compared to the total absurdity of what happened to State 50 years ago, it is basically unfathomable.

you guys are trying to play people who signed free agent contracts with the nfl and got cut. these are not similar situations. msu got hammered for taking a student discount. bama got reamed because some athletes sold their textbooks, which non athlete scholarship students also did. you retards called for the death penalty in the scenario, yet cant understand whats wrong with playing pros that washed out?

Chris Kiffin let a lineman sleep on his couch for two nights instead of his car. They self-reported and the player paid the coach the NCAA-agreed upon amount for the lodging.
They still popped Ole Miss with the same level of violation as if the coach just gave him the house.

If not for this department store sale, the Big 6 would own every SEC title since 1964.... because of MSU's forfeited games, Kentucky retroactively for a share of the 1976 title.

In 1992, immediately after Alabama's national championship, an agent at a bar had a player sign the back of a napkin that was later deemed a contract to represent him in the NFL. The agent also gave him $400.
The player later said he was drinking too much that night after the game, and that he'd rather not even enter the draft.
When his coaches found out, the agent was disassociated as a booster.
Alabama had to forfeit 11 games, was docked 26 scholarships, was banned from the postseason, and was placed on three years probation.

I was a GA for MSU's coach, Bob Tyler, at the time. Larry was a massive human being and a helluva DT. Ole Miss and MSU had a heated recruiting battle for Larry. Ole Miss thought they had him locked up, but he flipped at the very end to MSU.
He bought the clothes in Okolona and got the discounts. The owner was not an MSU fan and stated under oath that the discounts were for all students. Didn't matter. He was declared ineligible. That should have ended the matter.
Larry's people didn't like the ruling. They appealed the ruling and went to court in Mathiston to get a TRO to let Larry keep playing. MSU thought they should honor the court ruling and Larry played in all of our games.
Fast forward a couple of years and the case gets to the MS Supreme Court, and they rule that MS courts have no jurisdiction in NCAA matters. The NCAA then hammers MSU with all of the forfeits.
The final part of the saga was in 1980. MSU finished with one conference loss, a 21-15 loss at Florida. Turns out UF was using ineligible players and was ordered to forfeit all of their wins. MSU was still stinging from their punishment and refused to accept the forfeit which cost them the SEC title. They thought the UK title was bogus, and they didn't want the same stigma over their program. At the time it looked like Emory Bellard and John Bond were going to lead MSU to great things. That didn't happen.

You retards played a former professional basketball player
Ole miss is playing a qb with no eligibility left per ncaa rules.
A handful of SEC schools have players on their roster that pursued NFL careers. One school signed a player during the hearing in BR
The real issue here as far as LSU is concerned isnt that these guys tried out for the NFL, its the selective enforcement of rules by the SEC. I know we're both biased but even a smooth brain like you can see the inconsistency.

You guys played a guy who voluntarily left college with eligibility remaining, played professional basketball for 3 years for the NBA G league, and then decided he wasn’t good enough and wanted to return. If we are talking about getting kicked out of the conference or death penalties… exhibit 1
