What is his financial situation? He could be hoping to parlay his "story" into more TV specials or a book or something. Canseco has made a pile of money from narcing out half of MLB.

Interesting point. I still believe that the man cannot possibly benefit from confessing. If it were to be stated that he received benefits from a member(s) that are still associated with the schoolprogram, would that not place a black cloud around that member? Wouldn't it also cause more suspicion toward Auburn? Unless he says Tommy Tubberville or Jack Miller did it all, I cannot see how it goes anywhere but bad for Auburn.

You hope that is the extent of it. The word you are hearing is that AU is "mentioned". The word just about everyone else hears - and that was discussed here yesterday after Finebaum's inferences - is that AU is a "focus" of said HBO special.

You have to. You saw what happened to SMU when they didn't play ball.

That would not bode well. Regardless of the statute of limitations.

AU is not the focus of the HBO special, you may be thinking about the Rogers, Bond HBO deal they wanted

HBO wanted to interview Rogers, Bond, and Bell. That much is true. However, it was not for a different special. It was for the special we have all been talking about that will air in March. Said Bond:

“They’ve (HBO) wore me out for a month and I think Bill and I have decided we’re just going to hold off. For right now. We’re going to sit around and see what happens.

“It’s a situation nobody wants to be in .. it’s unbelievable what’s going on and we’ll figure it out and it’ll all come out and everything will be fine in the end.”

So, if you have knowledge that a rival school out-recruited your alma mater for a prized prospect by offering impermissible benefits, and you KNEW your school was completely innocent, what possible reason would you have for 'holding off' an opportunity to present that knowledge in a public forum?

There is the whole in your argument. You've assumed he knows no wrong took place on behalf of MSU.

Me and practically every MSU alumni/fan and most media outlets who have reported on the story. Oh, and about 95% of the non-AU Rantards.

I think representatives of MSU's athletic interests offered impermissible benefits to Cecil, and that they weren't forthcoming about those violations in their initial report to the SEC. That's why they are 'holding off to see what happens'.

Could this also be. He received money from an agent while at school? I ran one of the bars downtown and saw football players quite often and had a few work for me. I can tell you when McClover first came in he did not have any money. He begged people to buy him drinks but his last year he bought drinks all the time for everybody. And he would always be talking how he was going to be a first rounder. Ha. Then he declared early. I always thought someone was telling him this bs.

Not saying one way or another but he could also be talking about money from agents while playing. As I said in a thread I started before. I know of a few guys in the sec and some other conferences that took money. At auburn, no one for sure but some guys did have more money than they should. And he was one of them.

Also as a side note to how much of a dumbass McClover is he could not pass organic gardening with a tutor. Easiest class at auburn. And heard stories from some of my employees how he used plastic bags as condoms.

Also, supposedly the McClover stuff is about the general recruiting process and less about naming stuff at individual schools.
