Stanford really is the Alabama of the West.

Run it into an 9 man line and not make a yard. That brings back some horrible memories.

Stubborn play calling like Alabama has from time to time.

Did their coach lose it for them, too?

even though i had no dog in the fight, i actually started feeling bad for stanford's players....some of the most uninspired coaching i've observed in years.

Never feel bad for Stanford players. They wake up every morning at Stanford.

When I read the title I honestly thought the topic would be about teams with the fewest holding penalties in the nation.

They don't have a higher GPA than Bama but it's right up there so they know how to cheat and not get caught.

Yeah I couldn't believe they continued to run right into the teeth of the best rush defense in America on that final drive. Never had a chance. Great game though, old school offense, great defense, and we didn't have to suffer through teams simply trading scores.

lol....but for whatever in-game meltdowns saban had, it appeared like he had at least a shred of interest in winning the game. i don't know what the frick was going through the heads of stanford's coaches, time and time again....

Michigan State's vaunted rushing defense gave up 273 rushing yards to Ohio State's #3 ranked rushing attack. Keep in mind that Ohio State started the game slowly.

I came in late in the game, but the first thing I asked the guy I was watching it with was "Is Stanford's QB hurt so that they can't pass the ball?"

Honestly, I half expected a play action quick out to the fullback or releasing tight end on that play. I know that if it hadn't worked they'd have had to hear all year about how they "got away from their bread and butter," but like you said, MSU is the best rush defense in the country. I know hindsight is 20/20, but before that play I just felt like it'd be a power run and they wouldn't get it.
