Oklahoma’s stadium is surprisingly small.

Yet will set a record in decibels measured and number of false starts they cause Bama tonight.

Texas Tech--60,000+.

This is only possible due to the lack of proper nutrition in west Texas where grown men are massive if they weigh 130 pounds. In the same manner but inversely to Kneeland which would hold 250,000 people in any state other than Tennessee….

We could easily have the largest stadium capacity in the country if we totally filled up the open endzone.

I would never want this or advocate for that though. Such a beautiful sight

I expect the Aggie/Miami game will be close to 110,000. Seems to be a sellout with tickets scarce and expensive.

Did you know that most pro stadiums seat between 60 and 70,000?

Once you get beyond this number, is it really any fun to attend a game? I would rather watch on tv in my home or at a bar than be in the nosebleed seats. It's like watching a football game from an airplane.

didn’t realize they were so diminutive.

The layout makes it SEC loud.
The upper decks of SEC schools are meaningless for creating atmosphere and home field advantage.

Oklahoma is decreasing capacity of their stadium to 73,000. Seems small for a blue blood

"Blue Blood" being the operative word(s).

You SEC hillbillies are standing in bleachers all over, aren't you. Like me in the north OU end zone.

It’s college football. Standing in bleachers is iconic. Generally, our students don’t sit at all (except during the visiting band’s “marching”).

I’m fine with high-end seats being comfortable chairs. Those people are not the loud ones anyway. For most of the rest, I’d hope the games are enough that you don’t even want to sit down.

What are you talking about? OKC is the 20th largest city in the US.

the media market size is determined a little differently.

However.. In some "media market rankings"... OKC is ranked ahead of places like Austin but behind places like Albuquerque. (In Neilson, Austin is much higher)

Much of it has to do with other media markets and how close they are to each other.

OKC's market is overlapped by Tulsa, Wichita, DFW, Ft. Smith, AR even Amarillo in the Oklahoma panhandle, Shreveport in far SE Oklahoma and Wichita Falls, Tx in far southwest Oklahoma. .

OKC and Tulsa together are bigger than Baton Rouge and New Orleans together.

They prioritize suites and don’t have to give away 10ks tickets to students for each football game.

Ohio State--103,000+. Record is 110,000 against Michigan.

They shrank the capacity of Ohio Stadium in late 2017. The opener vs Texas was the largest crowd they've had in quite a while, with over 107,000. I can't see where they've exceeded 108,000 since 2017.

Texas A & M--103,000+.

There were over 110,000 at Kyle Field when they played Ole Miss in 2014, but after the 2015 season the total capacity dropped by nearly 4,000. Still, they had just under 110,000 vs Auburn in 2021 and vs Texas in 2024. They have exceeded 108,000 7 times since the 2015 seating reduction.

Alabama--102,000.

Per Wikipedia, Bryant-Denny Stadium reduced capacity in 2020 from just under 102k to just over 100k. But other sites still list the official capacity at 101,821.
