He would know me pretty well. I was the only guy from Ryle to go to LSU in my year and maybe ever. I am a year older than him though.

i played with Casey Weston at Greenville before Prattville recruited him. Kid was an animal! The only INT i remember him throwing was to the MLB which he quickly corrected by destroying him then picking up the fumble and running for 15 yds.
He then went to NIU where he set records for career passing yards (4,943), completions (394) and attempts (695)...
this kid paved the way for Jordan Lynch

I got dunked on by former New Hope HS, Bama and NY Giants TE Howard Cross. I was a skinny 5-10 sophmore playing the baseline in a 1-3-1. They took a shot from the elbow and I tried to block him out but he moved me out of the way. I fouled him pretty hard but he took me and the ball up to the rim and dunked anyway.
Also got a hit off of former Texas Ranger OF Rusty Greer(Albertville HS).

he went to Henry County in McDonough(ATL). I remember seeing him at my brothers BBall game... He looked like a grown man!

Brent Smith (OT) from Pontotoc was probably the best. He went on to MSU and then the NFL.
Otherwise, it would probably be Joe Gunn. Romaro Miller was really good, too.

Oh, yeah. I know! My son went to Dutchtown and wrestled there. I was taking pics for the Dutchtown baseball team I didn't know you were from around this area!

Did you play at Arab or DAR, I don't remember any other teams that played a 1-3-1 in those days

Pitched against him in travel ball. Got a groundout out of him. I think he might have won in the long-term though.

Good show! I've heard he is a genuinely nice guy. I am always pulling for him to do well.
I have a nephew that played with Jeff Francouer and Brian Mccann in travel ball. Brought them home for lunch one day. I can't believe my brother didn't invite me over...but then...I guess back then nobody would have heard of them.
Nephew also played with Nick Markakis (Orioles) at Young Harris.

I was Freshman when Tim Bowens (UA) did everything for Brooks HS. I'll never forget watching him punting, having the ball snapped over his head by 8 yards. He went back picked it up and ran 92 yards for a TD. I played against Freddie Roach as well, when I was a senior. He wasn't a huge standout that year. He obviously got better.
Mac Campbell broke some HS touchdown record against us my junior year. Alexandria beat us like 48-0.
I played in a summer league scrimmage against Josh Willingham my sophomore year. I didn't even think that he was the best player on the team. Shows how well I evaluate talent.

I played at a small private school. Its not a sexy answer but Will Arnold is probably it. He wrecked shite in high school and started at LSU. Probably could have had a long career if not for injury. Pretty sure we started him off with the injury bug when we beat them my senior year and he could barely walk off the field.
Also Seth Smith
