quote:

He’s familiar with the draft process because Hurst originally came to USC as a walk-on following a stint as a minor league baseball player. He was chosen in Round 17 by the Pittsburgh Pirates out of high school — turning down a scholarship to Florida State — in 2012. The right-hander was a pitcher in 2013 and then played first base during the 2014 campaign.

quote:

Because Hurst will be 25 in August, age certainly played a factor in his decision to leave eligibility on the table in Columbia. According to experts, Hurst will be one of the top tight ends available in the draft and could hear his named called as early as Round 2.

He’ll be in competition with the likes of Oklahoma’s Mark Andrews and Wisconsin’s Troy Fumagalli.

From a former minor league baseball player who walked-on at SC to a potential 2nd round NFL draft pick.

Is he coming back in the offseason to finish his degree in Sports and Entertainment Management?

Not saying that this isn't true, because it very likely is. But I watched muschamps press conference and while he did say Hurst will participate in Senior day, all he said about the draft was that it was something that will be discussed after the season.

Again, he is VERY likely to enter the draft, I just didn't hear Muschamp say anything today confirming that

He'll most likely do it through his pro career

It's not tough now days especially if he only needs 9-12 more credits.

Just load up on self paced online classes.

Hate to hear that for y'all, I know one thing he was a match up nightmare for us. Good luck to the young man.

Sucks for you guys. He does a good job of breaking down the zone and blocks his arse off. I wouldn't mind having him in KC to rotate with Kelce at all.

Praise the lord

He's a great TE, so I'd rather not have to play him one last time.

Good for him. I can't ever decide if I appreciate his long red yarn hair or if it's awful- either way it stands out as does his play.

This. He's very likely gone, but he even said today that he's going to talk with his parents after the season and then decide officially.

Saturday Down South just trying to get clicks again.

Obviously, I’d want him back. But I’m glad he’ll get his shot. What is he? Like the 3rd or 4th TE we’ll have drafted in about 10 years?

And of course, I don’t know the guy, but he certainly doesn’t seem like type of guy that would slack off in our final 3 games to save himself for the NFL.

He's good. He should go make himself some money. I won't miss him, that's for sure!
