Texas A&M beat Alabama, the eventual national champion, at Bryant-Denny. Alabama crushed Michigan 41-14 in their game against them to start the season. South Carolina needed the final seconds of the fourth quarter to put Michigan away in the Outback Bowl.

2012 Texas A&M > 2012 South Carolina.

Seriously? Georgia was a few seconds short of beating us last year.

Only one team can beat a national champion unless you're 2007 LSU. South Carolina beat Georgia 35-7. Florida beat LSU 14-6 and held Georgia to 17. Do these scores make 2012 South Carolina and Florida better than Alabama?

Furthermore, South Carolina is considerably stronger at home versus good competition than on the road; it's the opposite for Alabama. Alabama has lost their biggest home game of the past 3 seasons, so beating Alabama in Tuscaloosa isn't really that big.

Your analysis is flawed. I too think that Texas A&M was better than South Carolina but not using your logic.

They had two of their three most difficult games at home.

ETA: And they didn't have their three toughest games in consecutive weeks.

I believe if their opener against La Tech wouldn't have been canceled, they most likely would've been Florida.

Oh I agree, lost a lot of my respect when RG3 won on an 8-5 team that got blown out by our "play a half and quit" team.

Its not much of a difference to begin with.

But Beating Bama at home, Getting the Heisman, setting all time sec offense record and routing OU is the difference. But it wasn't by much. 5 and 8 in final rankings are about right.

A&M has a better marketing machine. Also, Spurrier is so well known and has been a part of the SEC for so long that the media forgets that USC has gotten better by leaps and bounds over the last few years. It's taken for granted that the 'Ole Ball Coach' has a pretty good team.

You could of added the swamp kitten loss to Clemson and the OU loss to ND.

Somehow, since aggy likes beating their chest over beating BigGameBob in a bowl game...

So we had the greatest player in the game, and the history of the game, and beat the best team in the country, and you're surprised there is more hype?

Slow down there chief, you had neither.

You were the flavor of the month team after Bama and it happened to be the last month of the season. The blowout over OU really inflated the opinion of aTm when anyone with a brain understands that beating OU in a bowl game post 2000 doesn't mean much.
