It's big on a national scale for sure. Not sure it comes close to the hate level reserved for state rivalries though like the iron bowl, south Carolina clemson, etc.

Texas looks down on Texas A&M

Texas respects Oklahoma
Oklahoma respects Texas
On gameday, the hate flows.. but that is the difference.. of course, Texas has gotten our asses kicked by OU since 2000, so it would be pretty stupid for us to talk shite to them.. We know better.
Well I'm going to have to ask ya'll to go ahead and turn the hatred meter up a notch. Alabama kicks Auburn's arse more often than not and Auburn fans still talk shite at every available opportunity. LSU doesn't even have a rival (allegedly) and there are several fan bases here that talk shite to us at every available opportunity. This is the SEC for crying out loud.

1- Bama vs Auburn
2- Ohio St vs Michigan
3- Oklahoma vs Texas
Those are the 3 biggest rivalries in the game. OSU/Michigan just gets pumped because it's 2 states with large population bases involved. The level of pure animosity isn't close to the Iron Bowl.

We are just setting the bar low.. we still have 32 days before we get our own message board..

I expect Texas vs LSU to really heat up in the next 10-20 years.. between baseball and football, there is going to be massive amounts of shite talked..
Another key point.. 80%+ of the Texas fans here are alters..
When the Surly & Land Thieves crowd come over.. and they will at some point.. remember what you asked for..

Army vs Navy should be #1 even if it isn't.. They get my vote.

if this message board is any indication I sense very little animosity between the two fan bases.
Texas and OU are honest with each other. Texas is the better academic school, in the better city, we lead the rivalry and have the more recent national title. OU has more national titles from a foundation of cheating and wildly unethical practices. OU doesn't argue these points.
Compare that to the delusional aggies, who truly believe their football program is of greater historical significance than Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Bama and UGA because they have a bunch of fruity traditions.

It was much better when it was LandThieves and ShaggyBevo.
As for the others on here when it ones to the hate and disdain for one another; it’s 24/7 365. There is a mutual respect when it comes to accomplishments but it’s mostly extreme hatred. Sure, mostly has been civil on here, but outside of here, it’s constant trash talk back and forth.
I went to OU/TX from 1998-2004, 2007-2008, 2011-2012. The trash talk on the West End the day before and the constant back and forth on Gameday is rampant. Whoever wins can enjoy the fair a bit more and continue to talk trash.
The overall experience is unlike any other. Admission to the fair and the game is a double win. The State Fair of Texas also has great food and other great attractions.

What do YOU think of the OU-Texas rivalry?
Personally I would put it at #2, Behind the Iron Bowl but better than the worlds largest outdoor cocktail party.

Where else can you walk into a game with the smell of drunkeness, shite-splattered livestock, BBQ, funnel cakes, cotton candy, and corndogs all wafting through the air at the same time like a grotesque potpourri that just screams "OU/TX game" to the senses?

Laughable.
The entire former SWC was nothing but "cheating and wildly unethical practices".
And how did 75 IQ Vince Young ever gain entry into, much less graduate, from texsa anyway? Hmmm.....

Most schools lower academic standards for recruits... thats not cheating

Also graduation college isn't hard. He got a degree in Youth and Community Studies... That might be easier to get than a liberal arts degree.

It is a big rivalry. And it’s the same time as the state fair.

I think they are different games.. and really shouldn't be compared., a better comparison for the Iron Bowl would be Texas and Texas A&M.

The Cotton Bowl, split down the middle, during the State Fair, 190 miles from each campus, is a unique setting in all of sports.
I've covered the OU-Texas game a few times in the past. Unique? No. Georgia-Florida is also split down the middle. In fact, the stadium used to split in 4ths, but way too many fights broke out in the stands that the officials decided splitting the stadium in halves was safer.
As for setting, Jacksonville beats Dallas. Jax has the waterfront with nearby beaches, etc. The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party is just that --- one giant party. It starts days before the game. Great for students and other young people, but I stay away from that.
OU-Texas has great tradition, like UGA-UF. I enjoyed the Red River Rivalry. It's a few years older in terms of when it started and total number of games played but, overall atmosphere, etc., I have to go with the WLOCP.
