MM will win and deserves to win the HT. He has a shite load more opportunities to make plays and he has made the most of those opportunities.

However, I think Coop is the best player in college football. jmo

Holy shitfrick, a receiver has more receptions and receviving td's than a quarterback. Stop the goddamn presses

I think Sims would have around 40-45 TDs and a 65-68 completion % if he was Oregon's QB this year.

MM deserves the Heisman because of his production this year. There's no doubt in my mind that he wouldn't win it if he played in the SEC. And please don't take that as me slingin' boners yellin "the SEC the best y'all!!!" Just think his production would be hurt enough to not get the trophy.

BamaStep went too far with his point. But those of you acting like MM would rip Auburn's schedule a new a-hole like he did Oregon's schedule are just as wrong as Step.

Touche

As for being a college reward.

Catching 115 balls for 1700 yards in the SEC is far more difficult a task than throwing for 3900 yards.

JFF went for 5000 yards.

If many QBs have had better seasons, but the 115 catches and almost 1700 yards is rare....Which is better ?

No one in college is better at his thing than Cooper, period.

MY OPIONION.

is there a precise modifier to apply to stats to take the SEC into exact account, is it just a pass/fail determinant.

I'm think something like 1 SEC yard = 1.15 Pac12 yards? or is it more?

I can't believe this thread is still going, it's like asking who will win Oregon or FSU, Bias be Bias.

I'm as proud of Blake Sims as I have any Bama player I've ever seen (and, unfortunately, I'm a lot older than 90% of this board.) And Coop is the greatest Bama WR I've ever seen, including Julio.

Having said that, the Oregon kid deserves the Heisman by a long shot. If he goes down to injury the Ducks are looking at 7-5.

These statistics are very misleading and an unfair comparison to amari. For example, sure MM has more rushing and passing TDs than Amari, but MM also has more rushing attempts and Amari has yet to throw a pass this year. That 26 yards per catch seems gaudy but Amari has more overall receptions and Receiving TDs than MM and it ain't even close. You need to take your MM and UAB loving arse out of this conversation. :smh:

The 2 replies to this totally missed the joke.

All it takes is one win over Bama.

actually he is a much better qb than tebow. look at the talent that tebow was surrounded by(both offense and defense). mariota doesn't have anything near that. the only thing tebow had on MM is that he was a bigger, more physical runner.

regarding manziel, they are probably about equal. manziel definitely does some things better than MM, such as throw on the run, but MM is taller, faster and less turnover prone. Manziel made some crazy plays and had that signature win over alabama which mariota doesn't have.

I won't argue with Cam though, the only college qb I've seen that was more dominant was VY.

He did all this without a consistent starting line. He had walk ons blocking for him. All three finalists could have won in any other year, but Gordon padded stats in garbage time, and cooper is a receiver. Mariota deserves the Heisman, but I don't think the ducks win the ship.

The thing I really hate about the talking heads is that they can't be happy with the 38 to vs2 interceptions. they have to throw in his rushing and catching ones to really push their point of view. See 50+ Total td's with 2 int's sounds so much better but they don't include the 3 of 7 fumbles he lost because 50+ with 5 turnovers while still pretty great doesn't push the right buttons.

Mariota is a talented QB, but I can't help but think his numbers are inflated by the Oregon offensive system. I'm starting to view the Ducks offensive stats the same way I did Texas Tech and Hawaii when Leach and Jones were at those schools. Mariota is the best QB Oregon has had since Harrington, and he'll win the Heisman, but Amari Cooper is the best overall player (with a healthy ACL ) in CFB.

I must admit, I've been on this board for a few years and I am 100% surprise that MM got any love here! The few negative remarks all came from Bama fans, although most Bama fans agreed that he's pretty good. I like Cooper and he is a great talent, as well as Gordon. I would love to have both on my team. With that said, I am very proud of MM. Mr. Heisman!
