Being in the hunt and being a legitimate threat are very different.
Neither us nor Ole Miss were ever a threat. It's pretty clear it's a down year but hey, LSU has made the most out of it.

It’s hilarious for a team that finishes 2nd place in its division and has a shot at double digit wins and a NYD Bowl for the first time in years to claim another conference school is successful because of a down year in that school’s division.
In a year in which that school’s division has Kentucky losing to Vandy to break a historic winless streak in conference, Florida struggling through a first year head coach, Mizzou being just another also-ran, South Carolina having the same issues and being curb stomped by UF’s transitioning program.
