Best recruiter ever? Probably yes. Best actual coach ever? Definitely no.

Recruiting is a big part of coaching, always has been...go back and look at the lists of coaches that are considered to be all-time greats...and then look at the talent they had. Name a coach who's won multiple national championships with inferior talent?

Name a definitively better coach than Saban, particularly in the scholarship parity era. Pete Carroll? Another great recruiter...won 2 national championships in 9 years at USC...also won a Super Bowl...also known for questionable calls that cost him a couple of championships (4th and 2 against Texas with Bush on the bench, and passing the ball inside the one instead of running Beast Mode in the Super Bowl). Urban Meyer? Another great recruiter...3 national champions in 11 years at Power 5 schools...also known for underachieving with his talent in 2015 and, being an offensive coach, putting up a zero against Clemson in the CFP last season. Osborne, Switzer, Bowden, and Paterno played with lots of future NFL talent on their rosters and all had less championships than Saban...all of 'em also made decisions that were questioned as well. So, since all those coaches had teams with top talent and made some questionable decisions, does that mean they can't be considered among the all-time great coaches as well? Or does that just apply to Saban?

Saban may or may not be the greatest of all time...but if you think he's not in the discussion, you're delusional...

Wrong.

Wrong. Literally only Alabama fans think this. Kiffin made Hurts look good all year with the play calling. Here some Sark dialing up a circa 2001 USC offense and now Hurts looks like a different player.

Jalen is ~35% accurate on passes past 10 yards, which includes passes he just lofted down the field and the stellar WR's would go get and come down the catch.

Saban is an arrogant jack arse and he made a decision based on emotion instead of the fact that Kiffin was winning games and knew the offense progressions better than anyone. Sark watched him all year and couldn't even copy what he did.

Yea, except for the 1 game he called while also being the head coach somewhere else. Did you watch that game? That's where Kiffin was post-FAU job. If he'd still been the full time OC and not half there mentally then I would have been 100% happy with them calling that game (and any other game). Against Washington we were CLEARLY worse prepared, and the play calling was abysmal. I have no doubt it would have been just as awful in Tampa.

Did you watch the Clemson game? Jalen was struggling throwing 7 yard outs, slants and stop routes.

Ah, there it is.

What are you babbling about? You obviously haven't been following Bama closely.

Yea, that Washington plan and execution on offense probably beats Clemson by 3 TDs IMHO

I loved Kiffin, but to act like Washington never happened and wasn't 100% because of his inability to multitask is silliness.

It took 3 years, but the Kiffin drama finally caught up to us and possibly cost us a national title. It is what it is. Was always part of the risk reward of his hire.

I dislike like Kiffin like the other person, but to change OCs a week before the championship is absolutely ridiculous.

When that OC is calling plays thst haven't been practiced in 6 weeks and clearly can't perform his job at a level high enough to win the game, you either have to roll the dice and hope the last game was not aberration or make a change.

It was a lose lose situation.

Their offense will operate on elite athletes as always and they will win because their defense is good.

No one disagrees.....but Kiffin's drama finally caught up to us. I like Kiffin, liked what he brought to the table, and appreciate what he did... but he comes with price. We won a lot of games and won a title, but the SC Wild Boyz experiment sort of back fired this year.

My gf is a Bama alum, so, yes, I watch every Bama game. And I've met saban several times, starting circa 2001 on LSU's campus when I attended school there....he's an arrogant jack arse. His son went to Catholic high, which is full of future frat dbags, and "Nicholas" was too much of a cocky dbag even for them. All of this is regardless of him coaching. You don't change horses in midstream.
