The president today announced that campus will remain shut down for Summer classes for and Nutter Field House (UK football's indoor training facility) will be turned into a 400 bed hospital.

I honestly haven't been on here in a while so I don't know if people were still holding out for football in September but I think that all but confirms it won't be happening in Kentucky.

I think it’s been too long I literally thought you meant the UK as in across the pond. I sure miss my sports!

Is this even necessary or is this posturing for PR by Kentucky?

Seems like a bizarre move.

Agreed....been told tickets will NOT go out for fall sports at Kentucky.

We don't know yet, but by the time we do know it may be too late. I'd call it precautionary. Statewide we have been climbing about 100 cases a day mostly in Lexington and Louisville. 11 new deaths reported yesterday and over 700 cases and climbing statewide. People from rural areas will be brought to Lexington so it is probably a prudent move. Time will tell. Plan for the worst, hope for the best.

Kentucky would be the SEC school to try and push a no football agenda. Be like LSU pushing a no hockey agenda.

so, do I get my contribution back..

All joking aside, prayers for all of us and help where we can. Going to take a collective effort to make it through this as a nation.

Love sports, but some things are more important...

Yeah. They totally want to give one of the better teams they’ve had in recent memory no chance to take field or make money for the University.

What is wrong with you mouth breathers?

The Governor has been asking for facilities that can to prepare for the COVID-19 overflow to do so.

They’re also converting the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center here in Louisville to a 2,000 bed field hospital. That could spill over to Freedom Hall if space is needed. Both Lexington and Louisville have the biggest chunk of medical/hospital beds in the state, so it makes sense logistically.

I’d love to have football, but I’d rather be prepared for the worst case scenario here. Best case, it’s not needed and staff were able to practice setting up for a large issue like this.

The chances of football not starting on time are about 10 %. The chances of no football this fall are zero %. Our national economy can't handle the country being shut down for that long. If things are shut down this fall then people will be killing each other over starvation and this virus will be the last thing anyone is talking about. Saying that football will be shut down implies a lot of things about other areas of the economy that will be shut down as well for about 9 months. This is simply unrealistic and not very well thought out. This virus sucks but it's not going to be allowed to turn us into a 3rd world country. It's simply not dangerous enough to justify those types of actions. When the reality of the economic situation starts to hit people more than this virus, this entire situation will take a different turn and that will happen well before football season starts. People are not going to just sit back and accept starving to death for months on end.
