I like the fact that Coastal made the finals and that Murray made the CWS field, however those teams making it are not good for viewership for ESPN.

The million dollar pitcher thing got a lot of run. I’m glad Tech didn’t win (and I’d say that whoever was going up against them). My daughter plays select ball and it reminded me of the teams that grab a pickup player for the weekend who’s a stud and use her to plow through the tournament. After her there was a pretty decent talent drop off.

LSU played Coastal Carolina from the Sun Belt.
we were good enough not to require a decisive game 3 which would have raised the average even higher
playing a game at 1:00 PM
the Iran strike news was breaking opposite game 1.
Multiple sporting events opposite game 2.
helps that ESPN is willing to advertise softball for some reason.

Pickup pitchers in travel softball are out of control. Once you get on a really good team it drops off a little bit. I had a “national” team offer me free hotel rooms to go pickup with them a few weeks ago to try and help them win a tournament.
