I didn’t watch one college basketball game this year. Obviously LSU sucked but normally basketball season is sort of my down period with SEC sports.
I’m not a communist so I watch march madness religiously. So when I check in to fill out my bracket yesterday we have 14/16 teams in!?!
We’re losing in football and crushing in basketball? Wtf people? We need to tighten things up and get back to our roots. How did this happen?

Well this is America and basketball is just 3’s now so is it that weird?
College sports in general I’ve been fading on since COVID. Not really my choice. More just like my heart slowly is fading out of it.

The NBA sucks, sure. College basketball has great games, given there's over 360 teams in D1.

Here’s how it happened super genius.
NIL can more easily impact sports with small teams than it can impact sports with large ones.
Total NIL payout for basketball pales in comparison to football but its impact is far greater. A team full of 500k players may very well be a top ten team in basketball with a decent coach. A total of 5 million dollars at the most.
You will need 12 times that for football after paying for NIL and football staff.
It’s far cheaper to focus on championships in basketball than any other sport.
So it’s quite natural to assume that’s where the nattys will come from first.

My guess is NIL money has made the SEC and Big 10 the 2 best conferences in basketball. Less competition in NIL with basketball than football.

Eh this makes me want to tune in even less. NIL and the modern portal for transferring has just totally soured me on college sports. I’ve started watching a lot more pro sports.

- The league has great coaches up and down the conference
- The league has great players - both young talent and old veterans
- The league has invested money
