And because a Clemson player never made contact with a Bama player.
I was happy with the result, but the Bama DB (#25?) did not even attempt to jam or re-direct, he grabbed the WR right off the LOS. All kidding aside, it honestly was not a penalty on Clemson.

What actually happened is #3 took out two Bama defenders by falling down at the first point of contact

he was grabbed by the shoulders and pulled down

If they stay home and switch who they are covering instead of trying to play man, they would have had a lot better chance. Instead they wanted to try to play man and Renfrow burned them again.

And if they would have done what I said at the beginning of this post, Watson would have just run it in

It was an illegal play call, potentially becoming a pick play, but the Alabama cornerback ruined it by holding the receiver that was meant to throw the pick play.

He's obsessed with Clemson, you have to excuse his obvious hate. This is a rough time of year for him

Anderson was in position to stop Watson. You would have blown the game right there.

There's nothing illegal about running rub routes if the receiver never makes contact with the defender.

Enjoy the playoffs, pull the real Tigers through!

So the DB that wraps his arms around the outside receiver is legal?

It s when he is blocking him....which is essentially what he did. The purpose of the pick/no pick, is for the WR to get in the way of the DB, but continue on his route. The WR clearly squared up on the DB and had no intention of running a route.

I would teach them to defend this play by just throwing all eligble receivers at the line of scrimmage to the ground immediately and just take the penalty and give them one more play. You lose nothing at all.

If there would have been any kind of option for Watson to run that, Gallman would have stayed on that block and not just initiated contact.

how is that a pick play?
the DB had to avoid the two players tied up on the outside.
the Clemson player did not run into the DB trying to cover the receiver.

What about when Renfrow was squared up to his guy off of the line? Did he run a route on that play? Lol

I think it was, but man seeing that again just takes me back. That's the first time in a while where we lost a game and I wasn't even mad. The excitement of the Clemson players was contagious, I was happy for Dabo, and it was a hard fought classic. I' ready for the rubber match.

Ryan Anderson had outside leverage on Galloway and if you watch I can't make it out but someone was inside of him around the goal line. 22 throws a RB off like a cheap suit.

Tell that to Saban. Maybe it'll keep Renfrow from scoring his 5th TD against y'all.

The primary issue with that play is that Tony Brown was the DB trying to cover him. I never want the ball game in the hands of Tony Brown.

Or when the receivers cross, tell the DB's to stay at home and switch men

That wasn't a pick...

Alabama defender #26 actually grabbed the WR and pulled him down.

The TD before that where our TE jumped up to cover the Pick was a closer call.

Schools have been running "rub routes" forever. When the Refs did call it earlier Clemson knew that could run it.

It's really easy to cherry pick the call that jerks your chain, but if you go through the game the are no-calls the Bama got away with that could have impacted the game as well.

Accept the loss and move on.

bama runs it too. Tried it against A&M in 2012 but cooper couldnt set the pick and it cost them the game.

Answer me one question please. You might have to look for it. What play was called in the huddle?
