I haven’t seen it confirmed anywhere yet, but I assume conference championship games will be a thing of the past. It’s gonna be pretty hard to determine a champion some years with a large number of teams in each conference these days. I know that was the case pre-1992, but there were only 10 teams at that point in each conference. Has anyone seen what a schedule for these playoffs might look like? Are they starting on the former conference championship game weekend, or is that just going to be the army Navy game?

I'm sure Stankey is all over trying to figure out a reason as to why the SECCG is still needed.

But honestly, they just need to figure out how to break a tie if there's no outright leader in the SEC.

Agree. At some point it’s too many games to play and the season has to end earlier. They will likely make up the money loss from the additional playoff teams would be my guess.

10 game regular season, all in conference.

Most likely yes.

24 team playoff field does not work with CCGs.

If they don’t get rid of it, teams will just forfeit & it won’t matter because the field is 24 teams lmao

With the CFP now at 24 teams, why not just drop back down to 8 SEC team games? No reason to for 9 or definitely not 10.

Great message board material every year, for years, for sure.

You've got it right. Conference championship games will be gone. Army Navy will be played in the dead week between rivalry week and the first round of the playoffs. I've got that straight from the top.

Bc espn captains this ship and they know schools will drop prime time match ups for fcs and directional schools given the chance.

Yes, this probably is the last one. I assume it is for all conferences.

Well how would that help knock another SEC team out of contention while creating another space for the B1G??

You got to think dummy!
