You do know Bama had a few players as did UNC suspended for being at a party with a couple sports agents right? So in the eyes of the NCAA Sports agent contact is pretty serious to them. I'm not sure about what all happened or was alleged to happen with Tunsil and the agents or whether he gets suspended for it or not, but I do know the NCAA sees them as a serious problem.

it wasnt for just being at a party with agents. it was because the agents paid for them to come to miami and everyone also lied in the beginning about it

quote:If you are paying attention, I said that the NCAA might be interested in the San Antonio incident not from the pattern of violence (NCAA would have no jurisdiction over any of that) but the fact they were with Georgia coaches and he wanted them to pay for a meal. I don't know all of the rules of recruiting but I would think that you can only do that when you are on an official visit. Meeting with a recruit at an all star game would not be an official visit - I don't think.
If you were paying attention, Farese linked said meal to his habit of violence as a result of feeling that he deserved benefits. Farese also illustrated his money seeking behavior and pretty much outright fraud in seeking full disability.

If somehow UGA got in trouble and nothing happened to us, that would be hilarious.

This total post is closer to fully accurate than the one you responded to. Post you responded to said bama had players suspended. Not true. Only had one player suspended (Dareus). However, the bolded part is not accurate. Dareus told the truth from the beginning which is why he - while at the same party as everyone else and at that party on the dime of an agent - had a lighter penalty than everyone else.
Players are allowed to have contact with agents, just not accept anything of value. at Bama they have a process of bringing agents in and allowing them to talk to players on campus during their first season of draft eligibility along with a coach, a member of compliance, and the player's family. Any agent who does not want to talk under these terms is not extended the offer in the future. That's not to say players don't have the conversations outside of this process (they do), but it gives Bama a ton of cover with NCAA for having process in place to attempt to proactively deal with it.

Diamondawg it is time to move on. Nothing is going to happen and you are getting consumed by this and arguing on the Internet.

Correcting inaccurate statements is not arguing. Plus, I will decide what I want to discuss and not discuss on this message board where the entire thing is all about arguing.

You're wrong about something

I haven't read most of the thread, but he's been pretty spot on in saying no one really knows anything about what the NCAA will do, regardless of how big of an idiot Miller is.

I think the lesson to be learned from the Miami agent party deal is what happened to AJ Green. TMZ reported that AJ Green was also at this party, but he was not. When the NCAA came snooping around they asked for his bank records which were provided (for some stupid reason). From these bank records, the NCAA learned that AJ sold his Bowl game jersey to a guy who was determined to be a runner for an agent.
Therefore, AJ got suspended for 4 games for something completely different than what the NCAA was looking into

No he wasn't. He was absolutely recruited to play football. He was an all city OL in 9th grade, which people fail to mention and Disney sure as hell intentionally ignored. not that that makes him special in TN private school football. Barry Brunetti was recruited as well to another private school in Memphis, among many many others (see Ensworth High School in Nashville and Brentwood Academy has been doing it for decades)

quote:IMO, every SEC program should use this process for dealing with agents & players. Protects the player and the program and keeps the agents very visible to everyone involved.

FIFY. He wouldn't have made it out of Memphis.

eh, maybe maybe not. it's not like michael oher is the first football player that grew up in the ghetto of Memphis and made it out. Sure, the odds were stacked against him, I'm not debating that. My main point was how much Disney and the media blew up his story like he had never seen a football field in his life and Leigh Anne Tuohy just saw him walking alone while she was driving through the hood one day. Not even close to how that whole transaction went down.
