Tennessee won 5 10 9 5 10 and 10 before Kiffin got there.

Kiffin won 7 while he was there.

Al Davis was definitely too meddlesome for his own good, but for him to call out Kiffin like he did, he (Kiffin) REALLY had to be f*cking around over there. At the time, I'd thought "Well, that's just Al being Al", but in hindsight the old bastard was onto something...

Hopefully for his sake, Kiffin has finally "got" it, otherwise he's one firing away from having nowhere to go but down.

And an OT win over Kentucky was the difference from being .500

Houston Nutt and Ole Miss destroyed that Tennessee team

Personally I can't stand Kiffin but he is a great offensive coach. He has done pretty well as FAUs head coach too. I dunno... considering the possibilities out there, he might be a decent hire. Again... he does have baggage so you have to figure that into the equation. FSU might hire him.

This is what I don't get about the Kiffin hype. He's got brief moments of inspiration here and there, but as a head coach, his whole history is one of overwhelmingly being a f#&%up who wears out his welcome, fast.

Tennessee fans (including myself) loved Kiffin until he left. He is a gamble but he is also the only coach available to Arkansas and Ole Miss that could actually win the SEC. Just hide the poon.

I totally agree with the OP. It’s mind bugling how this guy continues to be viewed as a desirable HC when he has sucked arse in multiple places. Not only results wise, but his actions. He is hated most places he has been a HC for his character more than for his bad results.

Maybe it's because ADs with a certain maturity level...unlike message board posters...look at what he's actually done with a program in 3 years. He took over a team that went 3-9, 3-9, and 3-9 in the three years before his arrival and has won 10 games twice, and on Saturday will play for his second conference championship.

Attendance at the last home game of 2016 was 5,843. Attendance at their home game last Saturday was 29,149.

Kiffin has put together a track record now of 6 consecutive years of pretty damn good success. Has he done anything to embarrass the administration at FAU? Hell no.

Tell me what other available coach has put an extra 25,000 assess in the seats.

I don't gove a shite who Arkansas or Ole Miss hires, but this whole schtick of Kiffing "sucking arse in multiple places" and being hated for his character only makes sense if your head has been under a fricking rock the last six years.

You've got to be pretty fricking stupid to suggest that he mostly sucked at FAU. See above.

And don't just do a drive by downvote because I'm calling you out. Grow some brain cells and try to make an intelligent argument that he's sucked at FAU.

Was Lane the OC at Bama the 2 years that Hugh Freeze beat them? Refusing to just run the ball at Ole Miss?

Lot of dumbasses in here.

You can't grow and change and learn from past mistakes? By all accounts, he's also matured greatly and he learned from the best.

Is he high risk? Maybe. But what really does Arkansas have to lose after the Morris debacle? He'll inject excitement immediately with fans, media, team, recruits.

I think considering what happened with Petrino, we can deal with a single dude getting laid regularly as long as he does his job. And most of you even bringing that part up with him are the same ones that said we were stupid for firing Petrino.

If we pull this off and he succeeds, it was worth the Morris BS for a couple of years.

Arkansas = Catching coaches at the right time with both Petrino and Kiffin hires.

He’s a good Xs & Os coach, but the problem is managing a big time athletic program. The jury is still out.

Easy answer: those two years you're talking about...go back and take a good look at what he did with Blake Sims and Jacob Coker over the course of the season, then come back talk about "refusing to just run the ball". They got down 20 points in the second half in 2015, so of course they're going to throw the ball more. In 2014 they had more running plays than passing plays, so that argument doesn't hold up for that game, either.

So you did the driveby downvote anyway.

Like I said, you have to be pretty fricking stupid to suggest he's mostly failed at FAU.
