I don’t think he will leave Oklahoma unless it’s for the NFL, but the argument for a move would be with recruiting. It’s simply a lot easier to win when you have (mostly) first dibs on an entire state of football crazy kids, than it is to win when you’re splitting a state that pumps out mostly 2* and 3* recruits. (Calm yourselves Oklahoma fans I’ve seen some in-state Oklahoma kids go to OU and then the NFL, I know there are exceptions)

That's a ridiculous claim that LSU fans like to tell themselves to feel better. The fact of the matter, though, is that major programs recruit nationally. Geography doesn't matter unless it's a middle school class. I haven't checked LSU's roster but I'm certain they have players from across the nation, like most other SEC teams do. Regionally, OU has been successfully recruiting Texas a long time, same as Alabama recruits Louisiana, same as LSU recruits Alabama, Georgia, and FLorida.

Bottom line, Riley won't take a step down, and yes, OU is a blue blood and LSU is not, so he's not going to take a step down to come to LSU.

edit: he will use the opportunity to bump his salary, same as Kiffin and several other coaches will. Then, LSU will finally settle, same as they had to for the caveman.

We recruit nationally, and have for well over a decade.

So let's recap.....

-LSU is gonna come steal Riley.
-Riley will quit and leave for the NFL cuz he's scared of da SEC n stuff.
-Riley will leave for the NFL, probably after this year.

Riley isn't coming to LSU.

It's a lateral move at best.

Riley has it made. He doesn't leave OU unless it's for an NFL job.

That’s why ultimately I think Riley will stay put

You have to keep in mind though it’s a disadvantage to your program. Every single one of us has strengths and weaknesses compared to other schools. LSU for example has the weakness of being historically dysfunctional, which has scared away coordinators for the past few years…

No, why would you intentionally put words into my mouth?

Competition for regional recruiting is a disadvantage. It’s one you use national recruiting to overcome, but when it comes to trends you would have an even stronger recruiting class every single year if Oklahoma had more in-state talent, that’s just a fact.

Competition is always a disadvantage. It's competition.

Our in-state recruiting situation has always been the same over the decades of building our program and we've done pretty well. I don't see anything changing other than a few more doors will open up to us that weren't there previously in YOUR region.

LSU has more upside than OU and Bama (without Nick Saban).

Then advise me why LSU languished at #4 in number of wins from the inception of the SEC (1933) till Saban came to the conference.

More telling is that from 1970, which was when the SEC was fully integrated, till Saban's arrival, LSU was 6th in the conference, and if you count Texas A&M and Arkansas, LSU was 8th in the conference.

Alabama
UT
UGA
UF
Auburn
LSU

Thems the facts.

1970, what year is it. Seriously, you know it hurts but as the landscape sits in CFB, there is no university better position to get top recruits than LSU. Without Nick Saban, Bama would be a bottom feeder and you will return there once he leaves. Its ok, you need a legendary coach to win championships, we can do it with a shrimp boat captain. You need no more evidence than that to know LSU is elite.
