So I’m curious why the Florida LSU game is cancelled but not the Bama game?

At this point Saban has had to have come in contact with their entire team. How would they be able to ensure no players have covid since it has an incubation period? I’m pretty confident saban would be begging the SEC to postpone this game. I feel like this situation is probably higher risk than the Florida LSU game considering they caught it later in the week.

I would assume they have tested all the players who have had contact with Saban and all were negative.

19 players vs. 1 coach (even if it is Saban)

It's pretty clear why

Yeah and I get that. But isn’t there an incubation period where they wouldn’t test positive for it?

Again, we have no idea how many players have it. Since there is an incubation period it’s possible that 30 Bama players could have it.

UF AD's presser said that they had 18 Positive schollys and 3 walk ons. Add the number that are quarantined from contact tracing and the non-covid injury list, he said the number of available Scholly players was less than 50.

Thats why the game was cancelled. They didn't want to play with less than 50 scholly players.

EDIT: Per woodhog14 per SEC RULES you cannot play with less than 50 scholarship players.

You have to have 50 scholarship players. Something like that. So many lineman etc...

So cancel the game off of the potential of other players having it? It's not hard to cancel a game. They could do it 15 minutes before kickoff for all I care.

You really are dense

pretty sure this is the OP's concern...how can they not be impacted due to contact tracing?

And if those players eventually test positive then the game will more than likely be postponed but right now they are going as is until that moment just like the SEC has planned this entire time.

People here positive test and act like the SEC didn’t think this was possibility and they are figuring it out on the fly. They have protocols and will continue to follow them and I am sure they have a “cancel the season“ protocol if certain situations happen.

Well, 2 people have a much lower spread than 18-21.

How has TAMU not had any positives come to light when they've played 2 teams that have had to postpone games the week after they play?

Because UF has massive swarms..Bama has Saban. Big numeric difference. It's a dream scenario for Georgia though. Bama doesnt have Sabam AND Florida may lose its bye week prior to the Georgia game.

But contact tracing would mean they couldn't play for 2 weeks.

1 coach vs 19 players is higher risk?

You can't play with less than 50 players per the SEC rules. You have to have 53 scholarship players, 7 of those have to be Olineman and 2 of those have to be QB's. So it's not that they DIDN'T want to play, it's that they COULDN'T play due to the SEC COVID protocol.
