Auburn pretty STUPID for allowing Malzahn to take another paying gig WITHOUT forfeiting his buyout from Auburn. Maybe UCF can get a game with Auburn and he can beat them WHILE being paid by them. That would be the ULTIMATE.

If Fisher doesn’t work out A&M will owe him a small fortune. His entire contract is guaranteed. Looks good so far though

I went to high school with Harbert, and back in the day, if you had told my buddies and I that our classmate would one day be a major power broker behind the scenes of Auburn football, we'd have laughed our asses off. Like, non-stop for six weeks. Then when we stopped laughing, we'd have asked how many national championships Alabama was winning.

UT just finished paying Butch Jones over $8 million to help Saban gameplan to beat them, when he wasn't washing Saban's car.

Do ADs and university presidents ever get tired of being arseraped by college coaches and their agents?

When he was in school, was his name pronounced Har Bert, Hey Bert, A Bert, Hay Bear, or A Bear?

Today, it's pronounced twenty one million, four hundred and fifty thousand dollars.

That's a long-arse nickname, but he earned it.

IOW, no offset clause. Gustav gets 75% of his remaining AU contract, PLUS whatever Sexton squeezes out of UCF.

Hell, I wouldn't even bother working if I were him. $21MM payout with $10.5MM upfront and then installments each month for a few years? At 55 years old, yeah I'm probably enjoying my retirement instead of the grueling life of a college football head coach.

Yep. That's why we hired a coach that Jimmy Sexton hasn't gotten his claws into this time.

Sexton doesn't get his claws into coaches, he gets them into ADs.

I've never understood the hatred for Sexton. Fans shouldn't be mad at an agent that's good at his job. They should be mad at an AD that isn't good at HIS job.

A lot of people are good at their job and they are still pieces of shite (personal injury ambulance chasers, for example) that are bad for business.

Hitler certainly knew his propaganda. Sexton is his own monopoly. An open network to any coach/client looking for a raise, not necessarily a job.

Something former Auburn coaches seemed to have perfected in their own version of the process.

He's only as good as a dumb AD/President. Auburn should've called his bluff and been prepared to let Gus take a hike when the Arkansas rumors started. Ironically it was the Arkansas rumors that led to Tuberville leaving/being fired too, also orchestrated by Sexton.

Somebody down there loved them some Gus. Malzahn walking shouldn't have been the mortal threat that you guys took it to be. Sexton could easily bait that hook like any used car salesman and just reel em in. I don't even think the administration waited long enough to know what the competition was bidding for his services. If you are willing to pay 7 mils to keep him why not at least wait and find out what the last bid was? Bad business to buy cars, homes, and head coaches in a rush.

But there is the celebrity and limelight of major college football unlike nearly any other expect movie or rock star. It's one reason why multi million dollar coordinators will sometimes take a pay cut to be a head coach, plus set themselves up for that next salary increase and even more celebrity. Then, some head coaches that have been fired want to prove themselves.

But yeah, I'd have to strongly moving to the lake house and watch the ducks get it on.

after googling and reading about the guy I see that both his Dad and especially his Mom were wealthy, so perhaps not very surprising, even if he was a dolt.
