CBS just does it a gazillion times better than ABC/ESPN. Still mad at Sankey about this one.

Do you understand that CBS took the SEC to the economic cleaners for years? Then they refuse to offer a competitive bid vs ESPN.

The GOATS. Every broadcast was like a living breathing entity. For that era, the production was amazing.

Alabama fans: "Gary is the worst! HE hates alabama! All he does is root for the other team, he's practially giddy any time someone scores on us. I can't even listen to him, I have to mute the games and listen to the radio!"

Every other team: "Gary is the worst! He fellates bama every chance he gets. He talks about alabama even in games they aren't playing! HE never misses a chance to bring them up unprompted whenever he can. he's the absolute worst!"

Personally I think this is spot on. The dudes a bama fanatic and will bring them up any game. His bias shows every time. Memes are normally true and why they are funny. He doesn't do it EVERY game, but I'd say most.

you're gonna see less football this year.

Games could be 10 hours long and I would love it but when it disrupts the flow of the game, that's when I have a problem with it, and honestly, when the games are so long, you aren't seeing any more football, you are only seeing more commercials.

He didn't take into account any intangible value CBS gives you. Like CBS is so good they can make Vandy look good on TV

I 100% agree. From the moment the SEC on CBS theme song starts playing at 3:30, I get goosebumps.
I had the chance to meet Brad Nessler at a prostate cancer awareness event last year (he's a survivor), and he's not happy about CBS losing the SEC. Not at all. It's just not going to be the same.

SEC on CBS theme song

you do realize that CBS has used that theme song for years - even for non SEC games right?

Danielson calls out the plays and the flags before they get called on the field, really irritating to listen to. He wont be missed.

So true. 9,000 commercials for some new pharmaceutical drug and those stupid Fansville Dr. Pepper commercials.

The real question of the season is: who's ready to show who's the cheesiest?

You won't catch me getting misty over a television network, but I do miss some of the old time broadcasters. Curt Gowdy and Keith Jackson were great.

It will sound silly, but I miss the Daves from Jefferson Pilot Sports. They often didn't have the best game of the week, but they sure called the game like they did.

ESPN.... enh... I've seen games on there that were classic all time great shootouts and the announcers sounded like they were covering golf. And the really boring golf too.

So last time State was on CBS was 2020 LSU?

Yes. State has never been a CBS regular, outside of 2014, when they were on 4 times including that one bizarro week where State at Kentucky was the Verne and Gary 2:30 game.

My whole life I've equated big time SEC football with that theme song and that network.

Same here. I once had the CBS theme song as a ringtone.
