So Alabama hired an old geezer that Auburn fans campaigned against hiring as HC

Interesting times in Tuscaloosa. Isn’t the offensive coordinator only 30?

Now we know for sure this will work out, now that Nostradamus has spoken.

Imagine him looking good when he's here, and Auburn getting yet another black eye for being #2 in state because they couldn't make him look good.

A dysfunctional cult not wanting someone as a HC means they are a bad DC now?

I'm not jumping up and down about the hire but hes a fine DC.

You've already forgotten his defenses at Auburn I see.

He's a very good DC. He's more than familiar with the SEC and Saban. Not sure why this hire is getting so much criticism other than people just wanting to troll.

Same guy that made that goofy thread about Alabama not being able to recruit anymore? Only for Saban to haul in another #1 class.

Sounds like Steele will have great success here if you think it's a bad hire.

He coordinated the only upper echelon defenses you guys have had since Tuberville.

I know it ended badly with the HC fiasco but as a DC he's the best you've had in 15 years.

Well, Muschamp put a pretty decent defense out there in his one year, in addition to recruiting the pieces for Steele when he arrived. But he was definitely our best DC since Muschamp in his 1st stint at DC.

Yea I'm certainly not jumping for joy over him or anything but the Auburn years are the most comparable in terms of talent and he put a solid product on the field. Not complex but guys knew what they were doing any played fast and angry.

We'll see what that translates to with us. Hopefully more of that and less of Miami 2022. Only time will tell.

We took a lot of shite from the Rant when we hired him, especially from LSU fans, just because he didn't set the world on fire there...in one season.

If nothing else he will be solid. And Saban is still there.

I did not expect him to be as good as he was at Auburn. I do think the way he plays lined up perfectly with having Brown/Davidson up front. It allowed him to call aggressive stuff behind them and let your guys play with their hair on fire.

We don't currently have a Derrick Brown, so I'm a little concerned about how that translates. We badly need Oatis to turn into a Brown like player and to stay healthy.

Confirmed Saban just wants coordinators with worse comb-overs than him...

He was hired as DC not HC. He was very solid at Auburn. You have to figure he will be at least as good with bama's talent.

When Steele had his DL he schemed against these spread teams as well as anyone in the SEC, and I said so, many times, in real-time. He went into Baton Rouge in 2019 and scared the hell out of LSU with a freshman QB. That hybrid 3-1-7 look was a thing of beauty. His teams were always physical and smart and that made them a tough out, especially on the plains.
