Since 1925 thru 1982 we never played LSU or Alabama at home. No wonder they have such a big win margin vs MSU.

For 20 years, LSU refused to play Miss State unless we came to Louisiana, which our dumbass AD department agreed to. The same the other 37/years .

When I saw the docu , I was amazed how we destroyed ourselves.

Even in Basketball , we were one of the top Basketball programs in the nation, we were on par with Ky. But our Athletic department chose to forfeit the NCAA post tourneys to save money, unreal. Even when Bailey Howell was there. We were our worst own enemy.

Things have changed, but I wonder what might have been had we had an AD who gave a shite and cared enough to see a future.

Neat.

Another “this is why we’ve sucked against LSU” thread from another maroon team.

Alabama played you in Jackson, MS. I presume it was for the same reason that, for a good while, Alabama had a lot of games in Birmingham - the stadium in Jackson was bigger.

Not sure if playing in Starkville would have helped though.

LSU played State several times in Jackson.

No,it was because the state of Mississippi wouldn't let state schools participate in tournaments wheren "Negroes" might play. To Misssissippi State University's credit in 1963 they literally "escaped" with some help with Vandy,to fly out and play in the tourney.

Before this turns into a which Southern state was the worst, blah, blah, for the record LSU turned down the 1961 NCAA baseball tournament for the same reason because of the state of Louisiana's rules.

What’s your excuse for every other era where the margin is even bigger, including the current era?

The only problem with your "logic" is that you've lost 2/3 of your games vs LSU in Starkville too.

Played in Jackson a good bit because the stadium was larger. I could be wrong on this but a planner told out class at State that when Jackie came to State, he was instrumental in getting the City of Starkville to float a bond and pay for the upper deck expansion so we could have home games and bring people into town.

I'm pretty sure it was because LSU would split gate receipts 50/50 with State. State could make more money playing in BR than playing a home game. The same with Auburn. Our "home" games against Auburn were in Birmingham. Maybe an old timer can confirm this.

From 1928 to 1989 they only played in Oxford 4 times. 1936 to 1951 every game was in Baton Rouge.

The Bear did not want to play Johnny Vaught so they didn't play at all when Ole Miss was rolling in the 50's and early 60's.
