quote:I think Smith is intelligent, he just wanted his to get his way and play immediately at UGA. Sometimes we don't get everything we want in life.
“I was immediately contacted by UA coaching assistants and advised I would no longer be able to “work-out” with the team,” Smith wrote.
Now what the frick would that tell a person with normal intelligence?

In a way, UGA's scheme would be more comfortable to him now than Alabama's. He's never played for Jeremy Pruitt.

That the coach doesn't want a player working out with the team who MAY not be a part of it. Understand this one thing and you will realize how foolish you look:
If Smith had decided not to transfer after requesting the permission to contact form, he would have been allowed to return to workouts since he was still a member of the program. However, the moment he formerly requested his release (the 16th) he was now, officially, no longer a member Alabama's football program.
This, ever so subtle distinction, is why the 16th is the date that actually matters. Now, if you want to argue that he should have packed his stuff before telling Saban he was transferring, you may have a point. The staff still look like assholes for throwing his stuff away though. It was unprofessional and uncalled for.
And it really is just that simple.

I assume Baylor was because it was close to home. Then the shite hit the fan.
I don't think he ever chose Miami. It sounds like that was a compromise that he decided against.
IDK, I don't know the guy. Just guessing as to what he may have meant.

Alabama can't seem to keep themselves out the negative news and I love everything fricking minute of it. Those wheels are coming off. Saban is losing control. Arrest, can't keep his OC from keeping his big mouth shut(we all knew it was a matter of time) and bad press!

Would Tony Soprano have handled it any differently?

Not for one second have you even considered that there are 2 sides to most every situation. Do you know what Alabama's policy is in these cases? Are you sure that he was not, also instructed to clean out his lockers when he was told that he couldn't workout any longer with the team on the 13th?
Old adage: People tend to believe what they want to be true.

I'll tell you what. You give me an official response from Alabama claiming any of the bullshite hypotheticals you just presented to be true and I'll retract my mean comments that have your panties in such a wad.
Until then, I'll keep calling the assholes, assholes.

Wouldn't know. This was a job almost 20 years ago after getting laid off. I worked there 3 months before finding a better job. It was insurance claims. It sucked and I was glad they didn't let me work out a notice.

2nd- My interest in this whole affair from it's inception has been the rules pertaining to athletes transferring from different schools (not what school, or what athlete). The only reason I came over to this thread was because most of the posters left the other thread to come here. I assure you that my panties aren't in a wad...in fact, I'm not wearing any!

Now, how did he see stuff in the trash if Bama didn't let him in the facility?

I think that the biggest thing here is that we have only one side of the story from the party that is obviously disgruntled because he didn't get what he wanted, and people are running with it like it's the gospel. Par for the course around these parts.
