Is he getting an invite to the combine? He won’t get drafted. And if you don’t get a combine invite and still go through with it you’re done.

Yeah I know - but he can’t come back to school if no combine + not drafted unlike those that get the combine invite.
Seems kind of backwards, but it’s to discourage guys from coming out but they still do.

Just like Mays, neither ever said goodbye

Jesus you people...do any of you know the draft process?
In the past, the kids that are just wanting an evaluation don't send out long goodbye letter. Waters didn't post something like this last year when he just wanted his free eval while maintaining his eligibility.
Nothing in that instagram post makes it sound like Smart isn't gone for good. Same with Waters and Reid. Honestly, same with Mays, although I think he reconsiders due to his medical school future.
LSU just lost their entire starting lineup in a week. It's kind of a big deal when you're not a school like Kentucky. It's also a big deal given the early signing period is in a week and they don't have a coach and their commits don't look strong anymore.
Alleva is letting the program be destroyed with an indefinite suspension. Wade needs to be fired or the suspension lifted, bottom line. This "no decision" bullshite is going to wreck the program just as much as probation. I mean what's Alleva's plan? Let the investigation play out for a year and do nothing?

Good point.
If anybody stays or at least comes back to finish their schooling, highly likely to be Mays.
Dude is an academic rock star:

And yes – though Mays will draw looks from NBA scouts, thanks to his 6-foot-4 frame, deadly jumper, and springy legs – he plans to stay for all four years of his collegiate eligibility.
Plus four after that. Then another three-to-seven years of residency.
That’s because Mays, a pre-med kinesiology major, has his sights set on becoming Dr. Mays.

Balancing books and basketball does come with a cost. Mays – an Academic All-American whose GPA remains over 4.0, despite the stringent workload – started as a pre-med biology major as a freshman, but because he wanted to be around sports when he acquires his Ph. D., he decided to switch his major to pre-med kinesiology.

The kid is just getting his evaluation, which is the right thing to do, imo :lo
Here's my thing. Why write a post on social media like he did if he's not actually leaving? Why wouldn't he say, "I've decided to enter the draft, get an evaluation, while maintaining my eligibility." That sounds like the goodbye letters just like football players who don't have the option of coming back once they declare and hire an agent.

How can THREE guys leave early to turn pro off a team that got curb stomped in the Sweet-16 game?

As of right now, here is the point production remaining for LSU:
Marlon Taylor, 6.7 ppg
Darius Days, 5.3 ppg
Marshall Graves, 2.5 ppg
Will Reese, 0.4 ppg
The top 6 scorers have all declared for the NBA draft or are seniors:
Tremont Waters, 15.3 ppg
Naz Reid, 13.6 ppg
Skylar Mays, 13.4 ppg
Javonte Smart, 11.1 ppg
Kavell Bigby-Williams, 7.9 ppg
Emmitt Williams, 7.0 ppg
Daryl Edwards, 4.4 ppg
That's a total of 72.7 ppg of the 80.4 ppg LSU scored this season. Or 90% of the point production.

quote:If you could combine Days and Taylor, you'd have a lottery pick. Days is 6'7 with some beef, is fairly raw, but has maybe the best 3 pt shot on the team (that per the coaches, and he's made a few in games).

Taylor is 6'4 and a fantastic athlete, highlight film dunker, and good defender, but has little other offense.
Smart and Emmitt Williams need to come back, they'd be studs in the SEC next season. It'd be nice if Mays came back too, he'd be the leader of the team. He doesn't have an NBA future, but he might be ready to focus on just the books.
If all 3 come back, this team should be back in the tournament next March.
