That’s, uh, not accurate.

Anti bias training is not critical race theory.

Patton Creek and the Galleria are doing just fine.
Immigrating liberals are th biggest threat to Hoover, but we just elected our most conservative City Council in the 15 or so years I've lived here and their first school board appointment was an anti-mask anti-school closures proponent, so we're heading in the right direction there. This council will be able to appoint 4 more school board members before their term ends.
As long as we continue to hold back the spread of leftism, Hoover will be just fine.

Was at the Galleria a few weeks ago, many empty stores and condition of the mall was depressing. Patton Creek is in worse shape.

That said, the Mountain Brook community has long been one of the nicest and most affluent in the South.
The Homewood area has made great strides in recent years. The downtown projects and the area near the original Saw's BBQ off Oxmoor is becoming a great area. Hoover was just greedy and built for building sake.

That area was nice when I first moved to Birmingham. Went downhill for a while, but has rebounded nicely. Would rather go there than anywhere off the top of my head in Hoover. I typically try and avoid Hoover. It feels too much like Atlanta to me.

Yes, but what Mountain Brook is implementing has critical race theory scattered all throughout it and is 100% influenced and designed by the Anti-Defamation League. If you don't want CRT in Mountain Brook Schools, then you are going to be very disappointed.
It is very telling to me that you changed your tune from "they cut ties with the ADL quickly" to something far more mundane when I pointed out the facts of the situation.

I lived in Hoover once. It could have been me.

Not sure what you're seeing here. The office tower is completely occupied, and the mall is pretty occupied too. The old Sears store is vacant, so that makes it seem more empty than it actually is. That store closed in October 2019, and obviously nothing was going to open there during the 2020 COVID year, but I'm willing to bet something will be occupying that spot by this Christmas shopping season.

Patton Creek is due to poor management. No other way to put it. They're trying to charge too much for those spots. Given the success of other developments in the area, it's clear the demand is there. The ownership group just took over management of the property (they previously used a third party to manage it), so hopefully things will change there soon. That said, all of the large storefronts are occupied. There are about 26 small storefronts that need to be occupied though, and I don't think they will be unless and until the ownership figures out they need to do something different.

Beirut is nice compared to Layfette. Baton Rouge? I'd rather stay on the Southern Blvd in Montgomery.

As soon as parents found out and started making phone calls, it was addressed. I’m just as alarmed about the shift to the left and crazy activism as anyone, but it wasn’t as extreme at mountain Brook as you insinuated.

All they did was "break ties" with the ADL and keep using the same program. That's basically just lip service. I'd bet the ADL still got whatever money the school system agreed to pay them. Y'all should be demanding they scrap the entire program, start over from scratch, and remove whoever thought this was a good idea in the first place.

Macy's looks like a Walmart. Kiosks clutter the walkways over deteriorating flooring. Hell, even Starbucks got the hello out of there.

I don't shop at Macy's, so I'll have to take your word on that. Not sure what that has to do with the Galleria though. Macy's can do whatever they want with their store.
The kiosks are annoying for sure, but that point seems to be in opposition to your point about empty storefronts. Malls with no demand aren't usually able to keep kiosks occupied with vendors. I also don't remember a time when the kiosks weren't there, even back to when I was a kid. Is that not normal for malls?
I haven't noticed the flooring problem you mention but I admit I don't usually pay attention to those sorts of things unless they're approaching dangerous levels. I don't doubt that they could do with some updates in that regard.

This probably has more to do with how many coffee shops are in Hoover. There are 4 other Starbucks in Hoover and multiple local options that are far, far better than Starbucks without the terrible politics. The next time you're in town I would suggest looking up Santos or Baba Java.

My point is the clientele has change drastically the last few years. The type of stores and the condition of the stores tell you everything. A lot of overstock companies. Not a place really to shop anymore. The Summit has taken the the demographics of their shoppers from 10 years ago. It is taking the same trajectory as Century Plaza. They better figure it out soon.

Folks said the same thing with J Edgard Hoover in power and Joe McCarthy having his trials. Public education is doomed to indoctrination.

So glad I no longer live in that area.

I´ve got to agree with Irons here. Went to the Galleria recently and it´s nothing like it was say 10yrs ago. The actual ¨family shopping experience¨ is gone. The kiosks feel like mini 7-11s, the feel, vibe, clientele, and atmosphere is not family friendly.
